Netflix calls Ed Sheeran’s Red Notice cameo “iconic” in widely mocked tweet. Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds star in the comedic action movie that recently enjoyed the biggest opening day in Netflix history. The star power in Red Notice is obviously a big part of why viewers have flocked to the movie since it dropped on the world’s biggest streaming service. But it turns out superstars Johnson, Gadot and Reynolds aren’t the only huge names to grace the film with their presences. Viewers are indeed treated to a special surprise cameo late in the movie when music superstar Sheeran shows up to lend his comedy talents to the mix. In the scene, a wealthy family is throwing a lavish wedding including Sheeran as the entertainment. But the authorities soon swoop in and begin arresting everyone, including Sheeran, who needless to say is not happy about being swept up in the operation, causing him to exclaim "Don't you know who I am? I was in Game of Thrones, I'm Ed Sheeran, b---h!" Sheeran of course appeared as a Lannister soldier an episode of GoT season 7, much to the chagrin of many fans.Related: Red Notice's Biggest Unanswered QuestionsClearly Sheeran was not put off by the backlash to his Game of Thrones appearance as he was willing to appear in Red Notice – and mock the previous cameo. Critics indeed have been particularly hard on the film as it currently carries just a 35% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences on RT have been much more kind however and have thus far given the film a 91% score. There’s no question Red Notice has a big crowd pleasing element to it thanks in large part to the main cast members who are obviously very popular stars. Adding Sheeran’s cameo to the mix may have seemed like a way to add a little extra fun to the film, and perhaps it did just that for some people. But just as when he appeared on Game of Thrones, Sheeran is himself facing a lot of push back for trying to stretch beyond his musical roots into other areas of entertainment. Sheeran may just decide to hang up his acting shoes forever after Red Notice. Or perhaps he will stubbornly persist in making random appearances in places where no one asked him to be.More: Where Was Red Notice Filmed? Movie Locations ExplainedSource: Netflix/Twitter
