Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot's international thriller Red Notice has moved back from June 2020 to a November 2020 release date. The two actors made a proper name for themselves while appearing in the Fast & Furious series together and have since gone on to become Hollywood superstars in their own right - with Gadot now playing Wonder Woman in DC's movie universe and Johnson having starred in (lucrative) tentpoles like San Andreas, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and Rampage, among many others.

Red Notice also reunites Johnson with writer/director Rawson Marshall Thurber, who previously directed The Rock in the 2016 action-comedy Central Intelligence and this year's giant building-set thriller, Skyscraper (both of which were financial hits, despite earning a lukewarm reception from critics). Johnson is starring in the film as an Interpol agent tasked with finding and capturing the most wanted art thief in the world. However, it's not clear yet if Gadot is playing said globe-trotting crook or Johnson's partner in the movie, seeing as Red Notice reportedly includes three lead roles (the villain included).

Universal Pictures has now officially moved Red Notice back from its original June 12, 2020 release date to November 13 that same year. The movie will take the spot previously reserved for an untitled Universal "Event" film and is currently slated to open directly against Paramount's live-acton Rugrats movie. It will also hit theaters a week after the release of an as-yet untitled Phase 4 Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

Presumably, Red Notice was moved in order to create more space between the film and Gadot's DC sequel, Wonder Woman 1984. The latter was originally slated to hit theaters in November 2019, but was recently pushed back to June 5, 2020 - that is, almost exactly three years after the first Wonder Woman was released (on its way to becoming a critical/commercial success) and a week before Red Notice was previously slated to arrive. However, thanks to this move, Gadot will not longer have two movies competing quite so directly with one another in 2020.

At the same time, however, both Johnson and Gadot are simply appearing in too many films right now for there to not be any overlap between their projects at the box office. Case in point: Gadot is also working on Kenneth Branagh's Murder on the Orient Express sequel, Death on the Nile, which will open three weeks before Red Notice arrives. Johnson, meanwhile, "only" has one other movie coming out in 2020 at the moment (namely, Jungle Cruise), but there's a pretty good chance that will change between now and them, given how many other developing films he has in the pipeline right now.
