Dwayne Johnson jokingly starts a feud with his Red Notice co-star Ryan Reynolds. Red Notice is the new action-comedy from director Rawson Marshall Thurber, which stars Reynolds, Johnson, and Gal Gadot in a globe-trotting adventure with the kind of back-and-forth banter audiences would expect from such a pairing. The film is currently having a limited theatrical run as it prepares for its big debut on Netflix this Friday, November 12th.

Both Reynolds and Johnson have massive followings on social media and both actors have made ample use of it to promote their projects and endeavors as well as to create some faux feuds with friends and co-stars. While Johnson has been known to have actual feuds with some of his onscreen peers (see: Vin Diesel), it's usually all in good fun. Reynolds has had a years-long "feud" with his X-Men: Origins - Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman, which is consistently hilarious, even though it's actually more of a show of their friendship.

In anticipation of the release of Red Notice, Johnson teased Reynolds on social media, sharing an image of a billboard sign that reads "Ryan Reynolds Uses His Mom's Netflix Account," which is a fairly light jab at the star, all things considered. Reynolds, never one to miss a good joke opportunity, hit back with, "In fairness, my mom uses my OnlyFans account." While this is hardly a "feud" in any sense of the word, it's some good old-fashioned promotional fun, and both actors are pretty adept at making good use of their platforms for such things. Check out the exchange below:

Reynolds and Johnson previously appeared together in the Fast & Furious franchise spinoff Hobbs and Shaw, albeit with a cameo role from Reynolds. Red Notice is their first big team-up film, which could easily become a regular franchise if the numbers look good post-debut. That said, Reynolds is taking a little hiatus from acting to focus on his personal life, with a number of projects already in the can (and more lined up for after the break) so that no one will likely even notice. Johnson has a full plate as well, although he hasn't announced a break of any kind, with a number of films on the docket and a recent plea from Vin Diesel to return to the Fast & Furious franchise to finish out the current series.

Both Johnson and Reynolds are masters at the promotion game and have always shown up to promote their projects in more interesting, insightful, and hilarious ways. While they may not always hit home runs, it's been a hell of a game of late for the duo, with Reynolds' Free Guy and Johnson's Jungle Cruise doing strong box office in the midst of a pandemic and keeping their brands alive and well in the process. It's unclear if the duo will continue their "feud" after Red Notice debuts, but it wouldn't hurt to have them share a laugh or two with their followers every so often if they felt so inclined.
