Warning: SPOILERS for Task Force Z #12The Red Hood's secret identity has been exposed to the world and now the public is aware that the vigilante is actually Jason Todd. However, despite the complications that may arise from such a tricky situation, this may be a good thing for the former Boy Wonder.

There have been a number of young heroes who have fought by the side of Batman as Robin. While he wasn't the first, Todd was almost certainly one of the most infamous, if only because of the tragedy that befell him. However, out of his untimely death, Jason came back as the Red Hood and realized the brutal potential he had kept restrained for so many years. Jason's work as Red Hood has taken him all over the globe, rarely stopping to take time to live life for himself. Unlike the other members of the Bat-Family, Todd hardly separates himself from his other persona.

Now it doesn't seem like the hard-hitting hero has much of a choice when living full-time as the Red Hood. Task Force Z #12 by Matthew Rosenberg and Eddy Barrows comes to a powerful conclusion as Two-Face and Jason Todd face off against Mr. Bloom and his zombie Bane, Gotham, aka Hank Clover. Things look dire as Bloom has complete control over the powerful undead Gotham and orders him to kill Jason. However, Jason is able to break through Bloom's control and allow Gotham to dispatch their foe and end his reign of terror. Two-Face implores Jason to leave, reminding the young man that thanks to a body under the rubble of a fallen tower dressed like Red Hood, Jason has a fresh start. A news report confirms the world believes Jason Todd is dead and that his secret identity is Red Hood.

What Jason Being Exposed as Red Hood Means

Red Hood Jason Todd Identity Revealed DC Comics

Obviously, there are major implications for Jason Todd’s identity as Red Hood being revealed to the world. First and foremost is Jason’s connection to Bruce Wayne, something that the right person could easily use to draw a line to Bruce’s secret life as Batman. And with Dick Grayson requiring a mind-wipe of the entire planet to get his Nightwing persona back, it’s unlikely DC will repeat the same ground for Jason. However, there may be some added benefits to Jason losing secret identity.

While many members of the Bat-Family engage in a civilian life, Jason is rarely seen enjoying the same privilege. Nearly all his free time is spent as the Red Hood anyway, so having his identity revealed won’t change much in his world. Red Hood could even benefit from this. Now that Jason has absolutely no choice in the matter, it presents an interesting potential struggle for the vigilante. Will Jason embrace the opportunity to be Red Hood consistently, or will he find himself missing the part of his life he always ignored and now has no chance at getting back? Despite the setback this reveal has caused, it may be a good thing for Red Hood's overall character journey.
