Warning! Spoilers for Task Force Z #1 by DC Comics below

Red Hood is getting a new costume ahead of leading DC Comics' undead superteam. In a preview of Task Force Z in this month's DC Connect, Jason Todd will sport an all-new uniform that keeps some of the best elements of the anti-hero's original look while bringing some new modifications and armor, making him even more menacing.

Earlier this month, DC Comics revealed a new series starring Red Hood, focusing on the previously killed hero leading his own group of resurrected villains. In Task Force Z by Matthew Rosenberg, Eddy Barrows, Eber Ferreira, and Adriano Lucas, Todd will lead the titular team, which includes undead versions of Bane, Bolt, Shrike, the Arkham Knight, and Film Freak. The group of villains were killed during Gotham City's A-Day, where an explosion decimated Arkham Asylum, leading to many casualties and injuries. A-Day also led to the Peacekeeper-01 program launching, turning injured guard Sean Mahoney into a weapon for the Magistrate.

In a close-up look at Rodolfo Migliari's designs, Red Hood's new costume is fully displayed. Jason Todd keeps his trademark red mask but trades in his usual costume for a bulkier armor. Red Hood will carry his own taser baton, along with his own red Batargangs. Additionally, Jason will carry a crowbar, which is pretty twisted given his history with the item. Red Hood has a red, spray-painted letter Z on his shoulder, as well as his red bat symbol on his chest.

It's a sleek redesign for Jason that should keep him protected against his own team. Leading an undead squad is a risk in itself, as who knows if they will turn on him - especially considering most of them have a history with the Red Hood. However, with more protective armor and a handful of weapons used to combat them should the need arise, Todd seems well-equipped for his new role.

Even though the villains such as Bane and Arkham Knight are seemingly undead, Jason Todd has to feel a special connection to the group considering he was brought back to life before. His dark history makes him the perfect person to lead Task Force Z, although the group's true mission and goals are still unclear - besides DC revealing a mysterious benefactor is funding the team. For those wanting to see Red Hood and his new costume in action, Task Force Z is scheduled to arrive in comic book shops on October 26.
