It's been almost two years since Rockstar Games's Red Dead Redemption 2 released. In that time, players have discovered all sorts of Easter eggs, hidden references, and even exploited glitches. With its sprawling map of the United States, the story of RDR2 takes players through all sorts of locales, but seems to stop just short of Mexico. However, there is a way to enter Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2. It just takes a little extra effort.

As protagonist Arthur Morgan, players venture across the various landscapes of the American West and Appalachia. Red Dead Redemption 2 is well-known for its impressive open world and immersive gameplay. Although Mexico was featured in the first Red Dead Redemption game, players will seemingly hit an invisible wall if they try to get into Mexico in Red Dead Redemption 2. This hasn't stopped dedicated players from trying, though, which is how they've discovered there is actually a way to enter Mexico in the game.

Mexico shows up on the map in Red Dead Redemption 2, which is why players have long expected the area to be featured in DLC. However, Rockstar Games has since chosen to focus on Red Dead Online instead, which indicates any single-player DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2 will likely never happen. Despite this, Mexico can still be visited in RDR2 through an exploitable glitch. It just may not be the Mexico Red Dead Redemption players had hoped for.

Red Dead Redemption 2's Mexico Glitch Explained

This RDR2 glitch appears to have first been discovered by YouTuber ZacCoxTV. In order to exploit this Mexico glitch, players must have beaten the main story of Red Dead Redemption 2 and be able to travel to New Austin. Specifically, players will need to travel to the westernmost point, along the Sea of Coronado. There, they'll have to ride their horse through the water, aiming to the right of a rock on the shoreline. From there, they can ride their horse into Mexico and see the countryside for themselves.

Once players are in Mexico after beating the game, there isn't a lot to do. Players can visit the Presidio from the first game, but there aren't any quests or anything else of interest. If players go too far off the map, they'll fall into a void and die. It's unclear whether or not assets of Mexico were included for scrapped DLC plans, or if they were just there to keep up the appearance of Red Dead Redemption 2's open world.

Regardless of the reasons, getting to Mexico can be a fun glitch to exploit after beating the main story of Red Dead Redemption 2. Although it isn't much, it's still a nice reminder of what players saw in the first game, and it can be fun for players to see Presidio for themselves.
