Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online have begun teasing an Undead Nightmare DLC expansion in the same vein as the one that was so popular for the last entry in the series, as zombies have begun cropping up on the Red Dead Online map. Undead Nightmare is an expansion for the original Red Dead Redemption that introduced an entire zombie sub-plot to the series and was one of the most popular content releases for Rockstar Games, an addition that is still talked about and praised to this day despite happening many years ago.
Red Dead Redemption 2 was a critical smash hit, but it's staying power remains up for debate - Red Dead Online is not as successful as GTA Online, something that Rockstar Games is likely looking to address. Rockstar Games recently updated its social media pages to display a Red Dead-themed logo for the company, but many believed that was in conjunction with the announcement of the Rockstar Games Launcher and an indicator that a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port would finally be announced by the company in the near future. Now, it appears it might not be a PC port - or that the long-awaited announcement will be accompanied by an even more exciting update as well.
According to the Red Dead news Twitter account, zombies have begun appearing on the Red Dead Online map, and other reports have suggested they have also invaded the single player game. With next month being October and Halloween season, it's the ideal time for Rockstar to pull the trigger on the long-awaited Red Dead Redemption 2 Undead Nightmare DLC, which has never been confirmed but always expected by a fan base that's just as aware of how popular the last iteration of it was as Rockstar is.

If there is Red Dead Redemption 2 Undead Nightmare DLC coming, it's likely coming soon. When Rockstar teases content this heavily, it's usually because it's on the cusp of being released into the wild. The company has done this with GTA Online updates in the past, and knows just how big a deal zombies in Red Dead Redemption 2 will be to the majority of its fans - it's not something that would be taken lightly. If so, fans can expect an announcement on just what the DLC might look like, and whether it will be an extensive addition to the game or a smaller holiday-themed event in the same vein as other games' Halloween celebrations.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has zombies, and that's a fact many players are discovering for the first time today. Whether or not those zombies are heralding the return of one of the most beloved DLC additions of all time remains to be seen - but given the way Rockstar Games is hyping this up, we'd bet pretty strongly on this being a substantial update coming soon.
