One Red Dead Redemption 2 fan has realized that gamers can role play as Spider-Man in Rockstar Games' latest Wild West showdown. In a year that's been huge for gaming and seen the Sony-exclusive Spider-Man swing onto the PlayStation 4, the wall-crawling hero can be (sort of) found in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Spider-Man took the gaming world by storm in September as Insomniac's open-world adventure became the most ambitious Spidey game to date. Swinging across the New York skyline like never before, it was a brave reinvention of the series. Jump forward to Red Dead Redemption II's record-breaking opening weekend and impressive sales of 17 million units in just eight days, Rockstar is also attempting to cash in on a beloved franchise.

Posted on Reddit by Adventure_Adam, the short video shows off some nifty lasso skills. Showing Arthur Morgan on the top of a building, he uses his lasso Spider-Man style to whip an unwilling NPC off the sidewalk and into the air. Unfortunately, there are no skyscrapers to swing from in Red Dead Redemption 2 and nabbing bandits from the rooftops with a lasso isn't as fun as using Peter Parker's web fluid, but it's as close as the game is going to get for now.

While players can't control Morgan to web outlaws to the side of the Sherrif's office or swing from building to building, it teases what life would be like as a vigilante superhero in the Old West. At least players can practice their Spider-Man perch takedown in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. Although it's not quite as cool as the various mods that have found their way into Rockstar titles in the past, it's an interesting place to start.

It's only a matter of time before creative modders start adding their own flair to Red Dead Redemption 2, but let's remember that Take-Two Interactive is trying to clamp down on modders. Earlier this year, a court injunction tried to stop hackers tweaking the code of Grand Theft Auto Online for their own financial gain. That being said, there can't be much harm in adding the Avengers alongside the Dutch van der Linde's Gang and watching the carnage unfold in Red Dead Redemption 2 Online.

Marvel fans might remember that Rockstar's critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto V has showcased impressive mods for the likes of Thanos and Magneto, so how much longer until a Stetson-wearing Peter Parker strolls into town? It's easy to imagine a Western-themed Spider-Man as one of the unlockable suits in Spider-Man or its inevitable sequel. There's a whole host of handy tips and tricks hiding in Red Dead Redemption 2, and now that Reddit has exposed the cool Spider-Man-inspired move, players can try out their own version of Web Dead Webdemption until their heart's content.
