Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 has a lot of shocking and violent moments, but not a lot which makes players downright want to gag. For players who really want to feel their stomachs churn, however, then RDR2's man-made mutant is one side mission they definitely don't want to miss out on.

While playing as Arthur Morgan, players have the option to stick to the story missions or to go off on their own and explore the game's massive open world. There are countless things to do in Red Dead Redemption 2 that can keep players occupied for days on end, such as hunting, fishing, and searching for buried treasure. Many of the most exciting side missions are difficult to discover, however, and some players may think they’ve seen everything before.

Considering how tough this man-made mutant can be to find in Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s not surprising to hear that many players have still yet to unlock this side mission. But given its shock value and overall grossness, this is one RDR2 mission that should be completed as soon as possible.

How To Find The Mutant In RDR2

To find Red Dead Redemption 2's man-made mutant, players can pull up their map and zoom into New Hanover state. Directly west of the Van Horn Trading Post and near the edge of the water sits a run-down house that looks, at least from the outside, as if it has been completely abandoned.

At first, it appears that players can’t access the building, however Rockstar games are known for their hidden secrets and hard-to-reach locations, and this is no different. According to IGN, players must angle themselves to get to the second-story window, which is above the porch. Use the open window to enter the abandoned home, which players then will quickly discover is not so empty at all.

RDR2's Man-Made Mutant Explained

As soon as Arthur Morgan enters the room, a deformed body is visible on the opposite wall, which is tied up and has clearly been tortured. The creature appears to have multiple body parts which have been attached from various animals, and includes everything from the face of a pig to bird wings to ram horns.

Arthur will find a letter with the title "Experiment notes." The letter reads, “The Creature is ready. Parts are currently on ice, prepared for surgery. Any day now…” It’s implied that the mutant creature in Red Dead Redemption 2 is the product of a science experiment gone wrong in what appears to be a Frankenstein-like tragedy. Arthur will describe the discovery in his journal, and it will be marked as one of the many Points of Interest that can be discovered throughout the game.

The man-made mutant is hands-down one of the grossest things to discover in Red Dead Redemption 2, so players should ensure they have a strong stomach before attempting to find this medical abomination.
