One group of modders has created the perfect solution for hunters in Red Dead Redemption 2, and it involves a new, much more intelligent use of the in-game wagons. Hunting in Red Dead Redemption 2 can be a lucrative but dangerous profession, as high-quality pelts which not only net the player some much-needed money in the Wild West but are also the only way to unlock certain special clothing and cosmetic items are usually wrapped around deadly, vicious animals.
There's all kinds of dangerous animals in Red Dead Redemption 2, from alligators and rattlesnakes to angry horses and cougars. Players can hunt, skin, sell, and cook pretty much any wild game they come across in Red Dead Redemption 2, but they are limited to how many bigger animal carcasses they can carry at once. While the player's horse allows them to affix larger small creatures like beavers and rabbits to the side of their saddle, only one large animal like a deer can be loaded. This is even true when the player is using one of the in-game wagons, despite there being ample storage.
Now, thanks to a mod featured on NexusMods called Hunting Wagon, Red Dead Redemption 2 players have a perfect option for optimizing their hunts. According to the mod's description, players will be able to use it to "store pelts & hunted animals on the back of a hunting wagon. The hunting wagon will spawn at your camp and can be located using the map or radar" and can be adjusted using an in-game menu which comes with the mod. The mod isn't quite perfect, and does not save animals which are loaded up inside of it between games of Red Dead Redemption 2, so if a player turns their console off and back on again everything which was loaded into the Hunting Wagon will have disappeared. Also, the "Known Issues" section of the mod states that larger animals, especially big birds, "might mess with [the] wagon and glitch out."
Despite the issues which may arise when using it, this Hunting Wagon mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 looks like one of the best additions to the game a dedicated hunting character could possibly have. There's nothing more frustrating to hunters in Red Dead Redemption 2 than situations which see the player having to decide which of two different 3-star animals they should place on the back of their horse, and having more opportunities and space can make people feel like real Wild West trappers.
