The Jack Hall Gang maps from Red Dead Redemption 2 are a time-consuming sidequest, and it may lead some to question if they're worth the effort. The Jack Hall Gang maps in RDR2 provide Arthur Morgan with a treasure hunt, with each map leading to the next until the end, where the true treasure lies. While following maps may sound like tedious work, if the player is up for exploring all of New Hannover and Lemoyne, starting with Jack Hall Gang map 1 may provide a nice detour from RDR2's main story.

There are several treasure hunts in Red Dead Redemption 2, each of which consists of a list of locations that the player must visit in order to find the final treasure, with a new map at each location until the final one. Finishing any treasure hunt will grant the player a sizable reward, useful for raising money for RDR2's gang as well as Arthur himself. Among these maps, Jack Hall Gang map 1 is the first that the player will likely come across, due to being available early in the game and being marked by a stranger encounter.

The first Jack Hall Gang map can be bought from a treasure hunter named Maximo by the river near Flatneck Station for $10, a manageable fee even in the early game. Deciphering and following Jack Hall Gang map 1 will begin the player's journey through three specific locations in Red Dead Redemption 2's open world: Caliban's Seat, Cotorra Springs, and O'Creagh's Run. The path is a rather simple pattern heading north, then east. Collecting treasure is one of the fastest ways to make money in RDR2, but it will require the player to put some time aside to track down the treasure.

RDR2's Jack Hall Gang Maps Don't Lead To A Huge Treasure

RDR2's Jack Hall Treasure is likely the player's introduction to treasure hunting.

One of the biggest difficulties regarding the treasure maps in Red Dead Redemption 2 is that the only indicator of where the treasure lies is a picture of its surroundings. In order to figure out where the map leads, the player must have a good understanding of the game's map. For example, the rock formations on Jack Hall Gang map 1 match the distinctive appearance of Caliban's seat, guiding the player there. By contrast, Corterra Springs is less immediately noticeable, so players will have to spend more time closely examining the world map to figure it out. RDR2 is full of beautiful locations, so a treasure hunt can double as a sightseeing trip. Of course, simply looking up the treasure locations via online guides is also an option.

Whether or not one enjoys the treasure hunt aspect, it does need to be said that the Jack Hall Gang treasure is arguably the least valuable of any treasure in Red Dead Redemption 2. It consists of two gold bars, worth $1,000 in total. That is an impressive sum early on, but every other treasure barring the Torn Treasure Map is worth more, and even the Torn Treasure map rewards the player with a unique revolver. While Jack Hall Gang map 1 is likely the first treasure hunt that the player will come across, if they manage to find a piece of another map, it may become less of a priority. However, considering how valuable gold bars are in RDR2, it shouldn't be dismissed entirely - especially if Arthur is strapped for cash.

An extra $1,000 is always good to have in Red Dead Redemption 2, but it depends on whether the player is willing to take time out to search for it. Putting everything aside for a long ride can be tedious, and players who aren't interested can still make Arthur's fortune another way. Treasure maps can pay well in Red Dead Redemption 2, but there are more valuable options than the Jack Hall Maps if one can find them.
