A new video from Red Dead Redemption 2 has surfaced online, featuring a rather ominous hovering duck. While this duck is obviously a glitch, the hilarity of the situation is not lost on the player recording it, and this strange bird is just another strange and wonderful aspect of the game years after the initial release.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a fictionalized representation of the decline of the Wild West in 1899, following the story of Arthur Morgan and his fellow outlaws trying to stay ahead of the law and make a living. The game is one of Rockstar’s most hyper-realistic titles, featuring an enormous amount of detail compared to most games released in 2018. Red Dead Redemption 2 features over 82 unique species and 178 subspecies of animals, all of which have unique animations and behavior programmed into the game. Players have spent countless hours hunting down and cataloguing every kind of animal the game has to offer, which doesn’t even have anything to do with the main story, which is long enough as is.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is known for being full of easter eggs, interesting mysterious locations, and even more interesting characters. This duck is just the newest attraction featured in the old Western. While the hovering fowl may be an unintentional addition to the game, it has certainly gained some popularity online. The video of this glitch was originally posted to the Red Dead Redemption 2 subreddit by Reddit user Blue_Moon_Cheese. In the video, the main protagonist Arthur Morgan can be seen releasing a duck carcass, which then floats ceremoniously into the sky, ascending to duck heaven.

Usually, when a player harvests a corpse and drops it back on the ground, it stays there. Here it can be seen that the duck's model seems to bounce off the ground and slowly rise into the sky. Arthur then passes out in the video, due to having consumed an enormous amount of alcohol. Heavy alcohol consumption is a part of how this happened, thanks to a known glitch in the game which usually occurs when the player character attempts to do a normal animation when intoxicated. While Rockstar usually patches these kinds of glitches and exploits, the drunk exploit is still in the game as of the time of this writing. Players can use this glitch to access otherwise impossible locations on the map, although there really isn’t anything of note outside of the game's map.

Players who want to see more strange and mysterious phenomena can just play the game normally, as Rockstar has included many mysteries in the game for players to find. There are probably still easter eggs and secrets out there to be found in Red Dead Redemption 2, like one subtle detail that changes a side mission after the game is completed.
