Analysts with the NPD group predict that Red Dead Redemption 2 will sell more copies than any other game in 2018. That's a lofty goal for the title, considering it doesn't even release until October.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most anticipated games of the year thanks to the success of the previous title in the franchise. The new game takes players into a story that serves as a prequel for the Wild West action adventure RPG Red Dead Redemption. It will take players back to a time when William Marston was still involved with the Dutch van der Linde gang. The title will feature an open world, with a lot of missions and activities similar to its predecessor.

NPD analysts believe that Red Dead Redemption 2 will become one of the best-selling games of 2018: "In a very tight race, Red Dead Redemption 2 will edge out Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 to be both the best-selling game of Q4, and 2018’s best-selling game of the year." This is right in line with what the game's publisher, Take-Two Interactive, believes, which is that the title will be a big hit. Considering the first game sold over 15 million copies, the second title in the franchise could potentially do even better than that. The developer, Rockstar Games, has a solid reputation of creating titles gamers want to play, as well as changing the scope of what its games can offer to the gaming experience.

Rockstar also announced special editions of the game. A special edition priced at $79.99 will include the game, along with two exclusive missions, a real world map of the game's setting and a special case. An Ultimate Edition of the game, priced at $99.99, will include all that plus bonus outfits, an extra horse, a new theme, extra weapons and rank bonuses. There is even a Collector's Box that doesn't include the game, but does include a lot of interesting physical game-related goodies.

Although Red Dead Redemption 2 does not release until fall, those who pre-order the game from Microsoft can get some sweet deals in the process. This includes an exclusive treasure map, in-game cash and $500,000 of cash for Grand Theft Auto V.

It's no secret that Red Dead Redemption 2 has a lot of interest in the gaming community. It's a title players have wanted since the release of the first game, so it's likely that many will shell out the $59.99 or more to play it the day it releases. Players can't wait to return to the Wild West to revisit old friends and see new faces.
