Red Dead Online has been running for years now, but with it receiving fewer updates than its sister title, GTA Online, it's possible some players may consider swapping the Old West for Los Santos. While Red Dead Redemption 2's multiplayer mode has seen some updates over the years, they have arrived with nowhere near the frequency of GTA Online's. For some players, it's starting to become a legitimate question of whether or not Red Dead Online has enough support to keep going.

Feeling discouraged is nothing unusual, and it can hurt when those feelings are about a game that one has invested a lot of time into. However, just because Red Dead Online is not in its greatest state now does not mean that the game is destined for failure. At the moment, many longtime Red Dead Online players are feeling unsatisfied, and Rockstar could put in some extra work to reverse that. It already has an excellent base in Red Dead Redemption 2's gameplay, so a little more polish and a significant content drop or two could completely turn the game's fortunes around.

There are plenty of great activities available in Red Dead Online, many of which are ported directly from Red Dead Redemption 2, and there are some immersive role-playing elements too. However, the game still lacks plenty of features that fans would like to see added in through expansions. In light of the posse mechanic being slightly lacking, one of these desired ideas is the ability for Red Dead Online players to lead gangs of their own, especially in light of the posse mechanic being slightly lacking. This slow rollout of new features has made players worry that the game is being neglected in favor of GTA Online, with the game's obvious potential making this even more frustrating.

Red Dead Online Needs GTA-Style Updates In 2022

Red Dead Online Players Are Always Working for someone else and never their own boss.

When one looks at Grand Theft Auto Online, it is not hard to assume that it has been getting the lion's share of Rockstar's time and attention. Updates to GTA Online have come out regularly, and the game has expanded in multiple significant ways since its original release. With new vehicles, activities, heists, and missions having arrived regularly there is no question that Rockstar has been putting in plenty of effort in order to spruce up the game and provide plenty of options for players. When placed in comparison to GTA OnlineRed Dead Online's updates seem even more lacking.

There are a couple of solutions to Red Dead Online's current state. GTA Online already has a massive amount of content on its own, with the latest update - The Contract - adding a new questline involving fan favorites Franklin and Lamar. Rockstar could instead turn more attention to Red Dead Online, putting out more updates to achieve greater parity between the two games. In addition, maintaining a more frequent schedule with patches would do plenty to help players feel that the game is being well taken care of and hasn't been abandoned. Players want to feel that the developers are attentive and investing in the game, but with no roadmap and little for Red Dead Online's players to spend money on, the game is at real risk of losing them.

Red Dead Online is by no means a dead game, and its players should not give up on it just yet. It's definitely in need of new content, but the improvements that the game needs are all easily within reach. Red Dead's mechanics and setting have given it a wide and passionate fanbase, and they want the game to be the best it can be, especially with the previous updates having proven so immersive. With just a little bit of extra attention, Red Dead Online has the potential to be one of Rockstar's best games.
