Get ready to hunt for the Milk Coyote because the wily creature has been sighted in Red Dead Online and successfully completing its mission means big discounts on Naturalist items. The Naturalist quests, Rockstar Games' newest addition to Red Dead Online's roles, challenge the players to hone their hunting skills by either acquiring scientific samples from tranquilized beasts or racking up animal skins for trade. Progressing to level five by either path will unlock the ability to go after legendary animals, like the Milk Coyote.

Rockstar has been introducing a steady stream of fresh content to the game both inside and outside of the Naturalist role. Announced alongside two legendary bucks, Red Dead Online's new Hardcore Series will transform certain modes already in the game. Matches with this hardcore variation will strip away any advantages gained by Ability Cards and take away the option to use consumables. Just before this was revealed, Rockstar debuted a pair of legendary coyotes and offered players rewards just for logging in to the game.

Rockstar continued the legendary animal drops by proclaiming a white-furred coyote has been spotted ravaging livestock near Red Dead Online's town of Blackwater. It is supposedly not alone, as the post warns that the prowling creature will be backed by a pack of scavengers, but the rewards for tracking it down and either sampling the creature or trading in its hide are noteworthy. Naturalists that bring the beast’s blood back to Harriet to study will receive 40 percent off a distinguished Role item, whereas killing the creature will net a 40 percent discount on any novice or promising Role item. In addition, any player jumping into the game this week can expect rewards like a free shirt or double currency and experience points for certain modes.

Rockstar's continuing trend of offering players more content and bonus rewards may stem, in part, from the recent troubles seen in Red Dead Online. Last month, the developer was forced to roll back a buggy Red Dead Online update that caused a bevy of bizarre occurrences, making the game almost unplayable to some. The problematic patch triggered issues that made horses stop running or guns stop shooting, both incredibly important elements of Red Dead Online's gameplay.

Speculation on Rockstar's reasoning aside, it is great to see so many continuous updates to Red Dead Online. The game had a long dry spell that angered a few fans enough to don clown suits in protest in-game, but hopefully the wide array of new animals to chase and generous rewards will help smooth things over and bring players back.
