This week, Red Dead Online is all about the Moonshiners, offering double the rewards for completing Role-specific missions, a higher payout for successful deliveries, and help to get the best brew possible. Following on the heels of limited-time benefits that favored the more gunslinging virtual cowboy, the bonuses this week are looking to reward players for building up a profitable business.

One of the more recent Roles added to the game, Moonshiners debuted with a completely new set of stories, fresh missions, and even the ability to set up a small property — though it is not exactly the kind of property some fans would like to see in the game. The narrative centers around a veteran Moonshiner whose previous enterprise had a devastating run-in with the law. Looking to start fresh, the notorious bootlegger enlists the player’s help to clear out rival moonshine operations, craft the best possible brew using resources found in the world, and make slow (but tension-filled) deliveries.

Over the next seven days, Read Dead Online players will be able to net a special bonus, according to Rockstar, by stepping into a bootlegger’s.. err boots. First, the developers are offering to help Moonshiners get over what can be the hardest part of the role, starting the moonshining process. Setting up a shack will cost five fewer gold bars right now, though the offer ends May 3. Brewing a strong batch of shine will also be easier this week.  Typically, the game requires players to spend in-game money to order mash, the price of which can often be lowered by completing certain missions. However, this week players will be granted ten mash refills for free. If players are still low on cash, Rockstar is also offering to take forty percent off novice and promising level Moonshiner items after taking out five revenue agent roadblocks. Additionally, level 20 Moonshiners will get a forty percent discount on higher-level items after completing a sale, which will also earn more money and experience this week.

Perhaps reacting to players looking for more story-driven content, Rockstar is also doling out benefits for completing Moonshine story missions. However, it seems unlikely that twice the in-game currency and character XP will satisfy fans looking for Red Dead Online to take on more characteristics of Red Dead Redemption 2.

The weekly offers in Red Dead Online seem to be here to stay. While these changes do give players something new to focus on from week to week, ever-changing bonuses may not be keeping players engaged in Rockstar’s digital open range, with many beginning to imagine more enriching online experiences for the game.
