One nostalgic Red Dead Online player recently recreated Eustace Bagge from Courage the Cowardly Dog in Rockstar Games' online multiplayer action-adventure title. The online component of Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently in the middle of its second full year of launch after spending several months in its beta stage.

Upon its release in 2018, one of the most common compliments Red Dead Redemption 2 received was on its dedication to realism. There are some fantastical elements in the western title, but Rockstar put so much historical accuracy into the game that it has ended up as the main subject of collegiate level courses revolving around the time period. Naturally a good amount of that historical accuracy translated into the online component that was Red Dead Online, but as is often the case with Rockstar's online titles, a new level of fantasy was brought into the translation as well. A major contributing factor to some of the absurd goings on in Rockstar's online games is character creation, which allows players to make recognizable faces that clearly were not part of the old west.

One of these newest faces is Eustace Bagge from Courage the Cowardly Dog. Reddit user HeySoloSoyYo posted a series of images depicting the Red Dead Online version of the cranky cartoon character and from the overalls to the hat, the resemblance is quite accurate. One image even includes a Red Dead Online version of Eustace's mask, something he uses often to scare the cartoon series' protagonist.

This particular character creation fits well into the slightly off nature of the Red Dead series' supernatural elements. Rockstar's western titles have included their fair share of UFOs, vampires, and other creepy references that would work perfectly with Courage the Cowardly Dog's aesthetic. Red Dead Online might be a great avenue to further explore some gameplay ideas that feed into those supernatural concepts in the form of unique in-game events.

This Eustace Bagge creation is not so out of place when compared to the overall vibe of Red Dead Online. The multiplayer element alone increases the absurdism far beyond anything the single-player entries in the series have. When combined with occasional supernatural events, Red Dead Online players can be in for a wild time that might just feel similar to an episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog. At least HeySoloSoyYo will be a bit better prepared for those instances, especially if they decide to role-play their creation accurately.
