A new PC mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 lets players dismember everyone, including pedestrians, camp members, and, yes, even Micah. The gore factor in Red Dead Redemption 2 is already quite high, with Rockstar Games' painstaking attention to detail extending to a wide variety of kill animations. But not every character in-game can sit on the receiving end of Arthur Morgan's deadliest attacks.

In fact, modder GetGibbed found that 290 pedestrians cannot be dismembered by the player. These evidently special characters remain free from the cruelties of the world thanks to their status as figures across Red Dead 2's myriad side missions and Random Encounters. Naturally, camp members in the Van der Linde Gang are similarly safe from such harm. This even includes everyone's least favorite character, the always dastardly Micah Bell. But one modder recently found a way to ensure all characters in Red Dead 2 receive the same treatment, regardless of narrative significance.

Yesterday, October 25, the aforementioned GetGibbed uploaded the Dismember Everyone mod on Nexus Mods for Red Dead Redemption 2. The modder said the previously safe 290 pedestrians are no longer bound by in-game protections, meaning players can dismember these NPCs at will. This applies to camp members as well, Micah included, though GetGibbed noted that weird arm and clothing glitches may crop up. Of course, there understandably remains one protected class of citizens that even the "killable script" can't get past - children.

Since the Dismember Everyone mod makes most Red Dead 2 characters fair game, it seems very few people are safe in Rockstar Games' reimagining of the Wild West. The moral ambiguity that the Old West is so known for makes GetGibbed's new PC mod all the more fitting for the Red Dead Redemption prequel.

Considered a masterpiece by many, Red Dead 2 hit store shelves approximately three years ago in 2018. The robust experience offered dozens, if not hundreds, of hours of content, courtesy of a dynamic open-world, compelling narrative, and side missions both large and small in scope. While Rockstar seems disinterested in pursuing additional single-player content, support for the multiplayer suite - Red Dead Online - continues unabated. By most accounts, however, said support hasn't felt satisfactory for quite some time.
