Even though Gossip Girl has been off the air for quite some time, it is still considered to be one of the most popular and influential teen dramas of all time. It had its glamorous setting of the Upper East Side, it had an anonymous blogger, and it had dramatic main characters like Serena van der Woodsen, Dan Humphrey, Blair Waldorf, Chuck Bass and Nate Archibald.
A reboot is in the works, though solid details are not known about it yet. So, in the meantime, it could be fun to recast this celebrated television series, adding a twist and adding in some new faces.
Maddie Ziegler As Serena
Serena is a blonde it girl who turns heads everywhere she goes; all the boys want her, and all the girls want to be her.
A star who has been popping up more and more in the past couple of years is Maddie Ziegler. She got her start on Dance Moms and has appeared in movies and TV shows like Pretty Little Liars. With her look and style, she could pull off this iconic trendsetter.
Sofia Carson As Blair
Blair is the queen B of the group and of school, with her signature headbands, her controlling attitude and her love of schemes.
A brunette who could play this bossy, romantic and fashionable character is Sofia Carson, who is best known for being Evie in the Descendants movies.
Tom Holland As Dan
Dan is a reserved writer/reader who wants to be part of the Upper East Side, who falls in love with Serena and who (Spoiler Alert!) blasts out everyone’s gossip. He has this secretive side, but he is a really good guy with a big heart.
An actor who has portrayed similar types is Tom Holland. And even though he now brings Spider-Man to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is easy to imagine him being part of this world and this story.
Nicholas Hamilton As Chuck
Chuck has the money, resources and influence to get anything he wants, though he does have a hard home life and does go through many ups and downs with his one true love, Blair. He shows growth throughout the series, however, becoming a successful and happy gentleman.
Someone who could depict this is Nicholas Hamilton. Previously, he was Henry Bowers, another character with a mean streak, in It and It Chapter Two.
Noah Gray-Cabey As Nate
Nate is the laid-back athlete of the group. He spends his free time playing sports or video games and entertaining his numerous lady friends.
A pick for him could be Noah Gray-Cabey, who certainly has that athletic build. He was also on Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists with Sofia Carson, so fans could enjoy them together again.
Danielle MacDonald As Jenny
Outside of the main group, there are other notable characters who add to this series, such as Jenny Humphrey, Dan’s little sister. She, too, is a good person, but she gets caught up in the drama, wanting to be popular and to be a fashion designer.
Danielle MacDonald has been seen in films like Patti Cake$, Lady Bird, Dumplin' and Bird Box, and it would be neat to see her in Jenny’s shoes.
Rowan Blanchard As Vanessa
Dan’s best friend, Vanessa Abrams, also becomes entangled in the dramatic world of the Upper East Side, and she is an artist with a creative wardrobe and vibe. It is easy to picture Rowan Blanchard portraying this part, if a total recast happened.
And this actress may look familiar to some; Boy Meets World had a spinoff, Girl Meets World, between 2014 and 2017, and Blanchard was on it as Riley Matthews.
Halle Bailey As Georgina
At one point, Georgina Sparks shows up, reminding Serena of all her past ways and troubles. Someone who could play this mischievous character is Halle Bailey.
She is one half of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle, and she is set to play Ariel in a new version of The Little Mermaid.
Joe Keery As Carter
Since there are many attractive and affluent people in this teen drama, there are lots of significant others featured, such as Carter Baizen; he is a bit older than the main group, he is seen hanging out and/or dating some of the main characters, and he helps them out when they need it most.
Someone else who is a little older than some of the stars on this list, who is cute and who has played helpful characters is Joe Keery, a.k.a. Steve Harrington from Stranger Things.
Tina Desai As Olivia Burke
Another notable significant other is Olivia Burke. She is an actress, she went to college with some of the main characters, and she ends up dating Dan.
A pick for this supporting character is Tina Desai, who was in the Netflix series Sense8.
