While Pixar is notorious for its incredibly unique stories, throughout recent years, the company has started focusing heavily on creating sequels to some of its original movies. Two of the very best that Pixar has created are Incredibles 2 and Finding Dory, which took the popular characters to the next level, furthering their stories.

Both of these sequels took a long time to come after the original movies, but that didn't stop them both from being just as popular. While people might want to debate about whether these movies are as strong as the originals, they are certainly great sequels, but which is the stronger movie?

Incredibles 2: Great Action

Of course, it is expected that the movie which is a superhero setting would be more action-packed than a movie about fish in the ocean. However, Finding Dory does throw in some action moments at the end with a car chase, which was a little bit of a stretch in reality.

However, Incredibles 2 did a fantastic job with its action. The movie built on what it did the first time and adding new characters with fresh powers ensured that everything felt fresh and exciting, which made the movie even more enjoyable.

Finding Dory: Better Animation

The animation in both of these movies is extraordinary. After all, that is what people have come to expect from Pixar, as the company provides incredible detail to all of its movies. However, Finding Dory just has the edge when it comes to these two particular movies in question.

The detail on the water and the way that the characters behave in and out of it is stunning. This is especially true with Hank, as his change of color and movement in an out of water is incredible.

Incredibles 2: Better Lead Character

Both Incredibles 2 and Finding Dory made the decision to switch over who was the lead character in the sequels. For Finding Dory, it is obviously Dory who takes center stage, whereas, in Incredibles 2, it is Mrs. Incredible who becomes the big star.

Out of the two, it is Mrs. Incredible who works better as the lead character. Because Dory is so forgetful, she isn't always easy to write for, yet Mrs. Incredible has a lot of backstories and her character was just slightly stronger as the lead, whereas Dory is best served in the comedic relief role like in Finding Nemo.

Finding Dory: A More Vibrant World

The world setting that Incredibles 2 takes place in does feel quite realistic and while it is well developed, there's no doubt that the setting of Finding Dory is far stronger. The ocean is obviously a very vast place, and while it doesn't showcase that quite as much as the original, the setting is still very fun.

Bringing the movie into the world of an aquarium was a really fun and unique idea that just worked perfectly. With some of the animals being self-aware and others thinking they're just in the ocean, it was a really fun world that Pixar created.

Incredibles 2: Clear Villain

Something that both Finding Nemo/Dory lack is a major, clear, and distinct villain. It's all about the journey overall and that was fun, but there's no doubt that adding an obvious, well-defined villain really does enhance a movie, and that's what Incredibles 2 has going for it.

Having a big villain makes the movie really strong as it just adds more stakes than anything else, which is a ton of fun. Of course, with it being a superhero movie, there needs to really be a clear antagonist,

Finding Dory: It's More Emotional

Finding Nemo did a great job at setting a tone for an animated movie that could have huge emotional lessons and moments, and that is something that the sequel followed on from. While animated films are all about good times overall, having some sad moments isn't a bad thing, as this film showcases

The moment where Dory remembers her past is an incredibly emotional point and it's impossible not to feel sad when watching that. Because the film can take its audience to so many different places in terms of emotions just makes the overall viewing experience more enjoyable.

Incredibles 2: Big Twists

Having major unexpected twists is something that most people don't expect from big animated films. People often take these films for granted, thinking that they will be simple and paint by numbers, but that certainly wasn't the case with this movie.

There were some really brilliant twists and turns throughout Incredibles 2 and that kept the film unpredictable throughout. From having Mr. Incredible as a stay at home father to the twist with the villain, there were some great moments that made this movie a ton of fun to watch.

Finding Dory: Stronger Cast Of Characters

Of course, when it comes to Incredibles 2 there is the entire family and they're great characters, but it doesn't feel like they're explored in quite as much detail as the original movie. That's because time is given to other superheroes, who don't quite pack the same punch.

However, the supporting characters in Finding Dory have a bigger impact on the overall story and they all have far clearer, more defined personalities. It's something that made the original movie so strong to begin with and the sequel followed on from that perfectly.

Incredibles 2: It's A Fresher Story

Both of the films have great stories, but there's no doubt that Incredibles 2 has a stronger storyline overall. With Finding Dory, there were certain moments that were very similar to the original in the sense of it was a journey to find someone, with twists and turns along the way.

However, Incredibles 2 totally turned things on its head, putting Mr. Incredible at home as the father was a really fun twist and the overall story felt really well put together. When it comes to the two films, this was the one with a stronger plot.

Finding Dory: It's Funnier

While Pixar movies aren't meant to be all-out comedies, it is important to remember that these movies are aimed at younger audiences, trying to provide a family feel. That is something that Finding Dory does slightly better than Incredibles 2, with this movie being a ton of fun.

There are so many hilarious moments throughout this movie which is well balanced with the serious and more emotional moments. This film is really enjoyable for everyone with fun adult jokes, especially when it comes to the aquarium section, all while still having plenty of childish, over the top humor for younger viewers.
