Nolan's latest project, Tenet, is planned to be released this summer (though it seems likely that the release could be postponed like with the majority of films this year). So, why would you want to see Tenet? Here are 10 reasons to be excited for Christopher Nolan's Tenet.

The Originality

Robert Pattinson and John David Washington in Tenet movie

Nolan is considered one of the best directors of our time in part thanks to the stories he tells in his films. They are all completely original which makes them stand out from the crowd of adaptations, remakes, reboots, sequels, and spin-offs.

Tenet is not an exception. It is a completely original blockbuster which is one of the few original releases we can expect in 2020 and even in the nearest future.

The Themes

Tenet Cropped

Nolan loves exploring certain topics and incorporating certain themes into his work. He has played with time and has pondered numerous existential and epistemological questions.

Tenet seems to be connected with these as well. The characters will be using something similar to time travel while also diving deeper into the mind and the subconscious. There is a fan theory that Tenet is something of an afterlife.

The Promo Materials

One of the best reasons to be excited about a film is when the promo materials are good. So far, the promo materials have been quite exciting and interesting even though they don't reveal too much of the plot.

But this is something Nolan is known for. He didn't reveal much about Dunkirk even though he likes releasing special exclusive clips in theaters months before the marketing campaign actually starts.

The Soundtrack

Nolan usually collaborates with Hans Zimmer who has scored the majority of his films including The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Interstellar, and Dunkirk.

However, Tenet has a different composer - Ludwig Goransson who has scored Creed, Black Panther, and Venom. This will be the first time since The Prestige that Nolan has a different composer score his film. That being said, the music in the trailers is fantastic, so we can only expect to get a great score.

The Style

Nolan loves making his films in style. His work usually features classy men in suits, elaborate sets that use real effects, and a distinctive color palette that helps to make the film stand out visually.

For example, Dunkirk had the tones usually associated with war films. The trailers and the promo materials for Tenet have a particular color palette that fits the spy genre perfectly.

The Genre

Tenet Movie John David Washington

Speaking of the genre, spy films might have had their best days in the second half of the past century, they are still being made despite being far fewer and often less successful.

Fans of the genre can also be excited because they are getting two spy films in the same year: Nolan's Tenet comes out in summer while No Time to Die comes out in autumn.

The Trailers

Tenet Time Trailer Release

The trailers are always an important part of any film marketing campaign because they help to make the audiences interested in the film and get their excitement levels higher.

The trailers for Tenet have showcased the scope of the film and even showed us a real plane explosion. What's more, audiences saw an exclusive clip that played in theaters before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The clip had the first several minutes from the film with terrorists overtaking a concert.

The Visuals

Tenet Plane Crash Building

Speaking of the exploding plane, Nolan's films are known for being smart blockbusters that heavily feature practical visual effects instead of CGI. Tenet will obviously be just like that.

The only confirmed use of CGI will be implemented for the scenes with time moving backward which is already an incredibly entertaining process to watch, much like Quicksilver's slowed down scenes.

The Cast

The cast of this film is simply fantastic. Nolan has previously collaborated with such big names as Al Pacino, Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, Heath Ledger, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Cillian Murphy, and many others.

This time, the cast will include John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Michael Caine, Kenneth Branagh, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and others.

It's Christopher Nolan!

Perhaps the biggest reason to be excited for Tenet is that Christopher Nolan is directing it. Moreover, he wrote it and co-produced it with his wife which means he had as much creative control as he could possibly have.

From the very beginning of his career, Nolan has consistently created amazing films that were always well-received both by critics and by audiences. His blockbusters are unique because they tend to have the drama of smaller films while also being epic. What else could anyone wish for?
