In 2013, both Joe and Teresa were indicted for filing a false bankruptcy report, trying to trick the U.S. government. Joe had other charges brought against him as well, also being indicted for failing to file tax returns between 2004 and 2008. Teresa was sentenced to 15 months behind bars and was released from federal prison after only having served 11 months. Joe was to report directly to the federal prison to start his time once his wife was released. After months of waiting for the judge to make a decision on his deportation status, the Bravo personality then filed a petition in September to be returned to Italy and the request was approved earlier this month.
While the Giudice family has had a hard time of it lately, Teresa wanted to make sure that she cleared the air about not cheating on her husband Joe while he was away in prison for the past three years. In a preview clip obtained by People, it showed the new season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey star seemingly admit to having had met someone Teresa showed her The Real Housewives of New Jersey costars a photo of a shirtless guy while out at dinner, saying, "He’s the one I hooked up with." After the divisive comment was aired the Giudice family lawyer has had to scramble to explain the story behind the words.
The ones taking the clip the hardest had been the Giudice daughters as Gia who was the eldest called the lawyer very upset about the juicy clip. The lawyers explains, "She and her sisters have watched both of her parents go to prison, they are right now dealing with the deportation of her father, and then the headline yesterday is that her mother admitted to kissing another man. The problem is, and it always is, nobody ever tells you the full story or the real story." According to Teresa’s story, she did kiss a man named Tony, but more than 30-years-ago when they had attended high school together. Leonard Jr. expressed outrage with how Bravo edited the clip and disappoint with how the media took the gossip and ran with it, using the misinformation for clickbait. Teresa's attourney explained the truth of the situation:
"The truth? Teresa and the girls are going to see Joe the first week of November. They talk and FaceTime everyday. Everyone is happy. No one is fighting. There is an amazing story of love and perseverance, but I guess that doesn’t sell magazines or get clicks on websites. Even if you don’t like Joe and Teresa, think about their four daughters and please stop trying to destroy this family. They have been through enough."
Regardless of what Teresa and her lawyer say, fans still are not convinced that Teresa had or will remain faithful. Viewers of the hit show remember back to when Joe was caught talking on his phone to a mystery woman, calling his wife a "b*tch," and the interview that Teresa gave during a reunion where she said that if Joe was to be deported that she would divorce him. Hopefully the truth will come out on the brand-new season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey which is airing the begining of Novemeber.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey new season airs November 6th on Bravo.
