Angie and Jen were clearly not a good match to plan a trip together, both with big personalities and a desire to lead the group, and the editors certainly used this to their advantage on RHOSLC's ninth episode of the season.
Angie K Was Supplying The Receipts
Angie K. hosted a party for Jen's husband Sharrieff Shah at the beginning of the season, and she claims to have paid for the whole thing. On this specific episode, Angie made sure that Jen and the viewers knew this. In a confessional, Angie pulled out a list of literal receipts to show for everything she had paid for regarding the party. The editors played along with this and doubled up, listing everything on the screen.
The Slow-Motion Replay Of Jen Shah's Wine Pour
At the start of the San Diego trip, Jen and Angie came together to talk to the girls about what was on the agenda for the trip. Angie felt that Jen was taking too much control of things, so she sarcastically told Jen to take over while she stood back and watched. Jen didn't take this very well, and decided to pour her glass of wine over Angie's head. The editors lapped this moment up, playing Jen's wine pour back in black and white, slow-motion in a replay-type fashion.
Angie K's Crying Moment On RHOSLC
In a more subtle but still hilarious editing move, the RHOSLC editors took advantage of a moment after the drink toss, where Meredith Marks was trying to assure Jen that Angie probably wasn't even that upset about the situation. The scene quickly cut back to Angie, crying to Lisa Barlow and saying “I'm so mad right now.” This is a hilarious but low-key editing move that was effective for viewers because it was so simple.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 3, episode 9 was a masterclass in editing, It was also an example of how much more entertaining an episode on The Real Housewives can be with slick, funny moments. Whether the editors are putting funny filters over a scene, replaying a gasp-worthy situation in slow-motion, or cutting abruptly to a housewife making a contradicting statement, there are plenty of ways to boost the quality of an episode.
