Fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac have watched the on-and-off friendship between Candiace Dillard and Ashley Darby. Over the seasons, shade and knives have been thrown, Twitter rants have spilled onto the show, and sides have been taken. With the two stars never really getting along, many viewers are still confused about how their feud even started.
The RHOP cast has all given different answers when asked why Ashley and Candiace don't get along. Many have insinuated that Candiace is jealous of Ashley for a number of reasons. For one, they both are former pageant queens. Candiace is the former Miss United States, while Ashley won the 2011 Miss District of Columbia Pageant. Leave it to Gizelle Bryant to call out the fact that "Candiace's crown doesn't exist; Ashley's is a real one." However, on RHOP, viewers saw drama start after Candiace was overly vocal about Ashley's drinking habits prior to conceiving her first son.
At the time, Candiace would call out Ashley for enjoying alcoholic beverages despite her pleas to get pregnant. But the other housewives were quick to remind Candiace that it was none of her business. Things only got worse when Ashley got pregnant and was giving birth while Candiace was tearing her apart on Twitter. Despite issuing out an apology at the reunion, the ladies somehow found themselves in the middle of a catfight the following season. Not only did Candiace kick Ashley out of her home that Ashley said Candiace's mother paid for, but Candiace grabbed a knife to emphasize her point.
By season 5, Candiace was locked in a messy feud with Monique Samuels that turned physical. Housewives fans are well aware of the infamous hair pulling battle Monique and Candiace got into in front of the whole cast and crew. New mom Ashley was off in the bathroom when the actual fight went down. But she still made the decision to side with Monique and write a character reference letter against Candiace when she engaged in a legal battle against Monique. Candiace felt betrayed and hurt by Ashley's statement. But Ashley reminded Candiace that she had been violent towards her in the past, which prompted her to defend Monique's honor.
Now as a mother of two, Ashley and Candiace have two completely different lives. While they're both married, Ashley's marriage is often plagued by cheating and groping rumors against her husband, while Candiace works to prove to everyone that she and her husband have their own money and aren't depending on her mom for financial assistance. As the Potomac ladies return for season 6, viewers are anticipating the next stage of Candiace and Ashley's ongoing feud.
