After a very tumultuous year, Monique Samuels has decided to leave The Real Housewives of Potomac after four seasons. She decided to make it official on social media. The news was revealed on Instagram.

Monique joined the fairly new Bravo franchise back in season 2 replacing Katie Rost's spot on the show. She was well-received by fans of the show but was not well-liked one particular castmate, Gizelle Bryant. Even though the two have had their differences in the past, they tried to bury the hatchet at the beginning of season six, but the relationship went sour after the infamous fight with Candiace Dillard.

After the third and last episode of the RHOP reunion, Monique went on Instagram Live to reveal she will not be joining season six of the show. During the live stream, she admitted that she was "over it" and decided this was the best decision for her and her family. “It was a crazy ride, it’s not easy doing reality TV, and to be quite honest, I’m over it,” the 37-year-old said during the live stream. “I appreciate everything people have done for me, everybody that has been Team Monique, I love yall, but when you cross certain lines there’s no going back. For me, my family is that line. The opinion of my family and my kids and what they think about that I do is more valuable to me than anybody’s opinion, so, I’m over it.” Monique did not want her kids to grow up questioning why their mother would stay on a show where the women disrespected her and her family. “I wanted to represent real Black love and show people something outside what the stereotype has been on TV,” the mother of three added. “Unfortunately, this season I played right into that stereotype... I’m always going to be a great example or a role model for my kids and you have to know when enough is enough.”

At the reunion, Monique revealed that Gizelle was the one behind the rumor that her husband, Chris Samuels, was not the father of her youngest son, Chase. Apparently, Karen Huger told Monique that Gizelle was planning on taking this rumor to the reunion and claim that Monique had been cheating on her husband for quite some time. This of course agitated Monique and revealed if the tables were turned on Gizelle, she would go berserk if someone brought up one of her daughters in a negative way. What bothered Monique the most is the rumors are clearly untrue and for Gizelle to keep going with the rumor upset her.

Season six is set to start filming at the beginning of 2021 and will air later in the year. It is still unknown who else from the cast will be returning or leaving.
