Ever since The Real Housewives of Potomac premiered in 2014, fans have debated who the real star of the show is. Gizelle Bryant has over 500k Instagram followers, Robyn Dixon has her Hanover townhouse, and Ashley Darby has her unexpected pop music career, but there's only one lady who has the style, sass, and one-liners to be the Grand Dame of Potomac.
Karen Huger quickly cemented herself in the Real Housewives hall of fame, when in the very first episode of season one she dragged Gizelle through the mud for sitting at the center of the table at Karen's birthday dinner. No one does delicious pettiness like Karen Huger, and she's always got a come-back to boot.
"You Gotta Make Millions To Owe Millions"
Karen has always been known for her high status and luxurious fashion, so fans were shocked when it was revealed that her husband Ray owed millions in unpaid taxes. Karen had often bragged about her husband's success, even nicknaming him 'The Black Bill Gates'. When it looked like there was a crack in the Grand Dame's facade, the other ladies made sure to jump on it.
Robyn Dixon was meant to have Karen's back but when the two met for lunch Robyn suggested that she wasn't getting the full story on the tax drama. She admits that she talked with the others girls and they don't believe that Karen didn't know about the unpaid taxes. Furious that Robyn had been talking about her behind her back, Karen launches into an epic rant: "Read my f***ing lips, I don't owe anyone an explanation... You gotta make millions to owe millions". Only Karen could turn tax evasion into an iconic flex.
"People Come For Me All The Time, They Just Don't Find Me"
Karen and Gizelle are the frenemies that just can't call it quits. The explosive season six premiere just kicked off with another fight between the ladies, but they've been feuding from the get go. The series started off with a bang, literally, as Karen came straight for Gizelle's fake bangs.
The two failed to put their beef over Karen's birthday meal to rest, and Karen didn't help things when she gave Gizelle a framed plaque instructing her on the rules of etiquette. In confessional, Karen made it clear she wasn't to be messed with: "People come for me all the time, they just don't find me".
"Gizelle Being Messy Is A Train That Always Arrives On Time"
Another classic zinger from this pair of frenemies. In season four, Karen clocked Gizelle once again for her pot-stirring ways.
Comparing her to a train, Karen swears that "Gizelle being messy is a train that always arrives on time". In other words, you can always count on Gizelle to stir some trouble and bring the drama.
"Baby, I'm Only Judging What You Give Me"
In the season one finale Ashley tried to call Karen out after their beach house beef. The ladies had been staying at Ashley's beach house, but the girl's trip quickly turned sour when Ashley's husband turned up to surprise them.
Karen found it uncomfortable that one man would be staying in a house of all women, especially because they hadn't been given a warning. When the ladies met for lunch in the finale, Ashley blasted Karen and accused her of making it sound like she and Michael were swingers, and that he wanted to sleep with Karen. When Karen just laughed, Ashley called her very judgemental. Unbothered as usual, the queen of sass replied "Baby, I'm only judging what you give me".
"Who Is Andrew With A Missing Digit?"
Even Andy Cohen was gagged by this brutal drag. At the season one reunion Karen had had it up to here with Katie Rost. Throughout the season Katie had made it very clear that she wanted to get engaged to her boyfriend Andrew, and in the finale, he proposed. However, by the reunion, the two had split up.
During the reunion Katie ripped into Karen for her arrogance, stating that she has "a level of entitlement that is based on nothing". Karen responded with a razor-sharp comeback: "Let me ask you a question. Who is Andrew with a missing digit. I'm just saying, who is he?".
"Did Michael Get Indicted For Swinging His Ding-A-Ling Across Instagram?"
In season three, Karen threw a press conference to set the record straight regarding Ray's tax evasion. When the ladies dared to ask Karen questions at the press conference she had thrown for herself, she shut them down as no one else could.
Ashley Darby piped up to ask whether Karen would be indicted in the legal proceedings for the case against Ray. She may have regretted that because Karen quickly went for the jugular: "Did Michael get indicted for swinging his ding-a-ling across Instagram?". The editors quickly flashed up headlines alleging that someone claiming to be Michael's gay lover had come forward, even showing a censored alleged nude photo of Michael.
"You Went So Low I Couldn't Even Get A Broom To Sweep You Up"
Karen's press conference ended in a dramatic fashion when Gizelle revealed her questionable show of support. In the wake of Karen's legal drama, Gizelle decided to make and wear a T-shirt with hashtags like #freekaren and #freeuncleben printed across the back.

Unsurprisingly Karen was not impressed, calling it "tacky as hell". Two weeks later the ladies met for lunch and Karen was ready for an apology. The two have been friends for over twelve years, so Karen felt mocking her when she was down was way below the belt. Karen gives it to Gizelle straight: "It was gutter-ball trash [...] you went so low, I couldn't even get a broom to sweep you up".
"They're Cut From The Same Cloth... Moldy Mildewy, Messy"
The Darbys have never been Karen's favorite couple, so when Michael tried to call out Karen's husband for being disrespectful she wasn't having it. Michael had asked Ray why the pair had moved house again, to which Ray replied "It's none of your business".
Mrs.Huger felt the exact same way, responding with a wry smile that Ray was telling the truth. Karen vented her frustrations out in a confessional, questioning why someone would do that and concluding that she can see why Ashley and Michael are together: "They're cut from the same cloth... moldy, mildewy, messy".
"Karen Huger Is Debt Free And Loaded"
Karen wanted to make it clear that her husband's tax problems had absolutely nothing to do with her. So when Robyn Dixon suggested that Karen might be caught up in Ray's debts, Karen set the record straight.
Announcing to the whole restaurant she declared: "Karen Huger is debt-free and loaded". Fans will know that Karen and Ray did have to downsize, but if Karen says she's debt-free and loaded then it's got to be true.
"I Suggest You Let Him Stay In. Ejaculate, Procreate. Do Not Ever Ever Put My Child's Name In Your Mouth Again"
The Grand Dame of Potomac is usually a very classy lady, but even the best of people can drop their airs for a ruthless read. Ashley and Karen started out as good friends, and Ashley even developed a friendship with Karen's 19-year-old daughter Rayvin. However, after their fallout at the beach house, Ashley and Karen's friendship was on rocky ground.
At Karen's fundraising gala, Ashley told Robyn that Karen had indicated she didn't want the women around her daughter. When Karen caught wind of this she was furious and confronted Ashley stating that she was wrong, she just doesn't want Ashley around her daughter. In the finale this resurfaces, and Karen drags Ashley through the mud with the most ridiculous reads of all time.
"You talked about the fact that you and Michael do the pull-out method. I suggest you let him stay in. Ejaculate, Procreate. Do not ever, ever put my child's name in your mouth again".
Despite this, by the next season, the ladies were the best of friends again. For about ten minutes.
