Famous rapper Eminem has filed an opposition against The Real Housewives of Potomac stars Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon's trademark application for their Reasonably Shady podcast. Gizelle and Robyn launched their Reasonably Shady podcast in 2021. In the podcast, the women discuss several topics, including fashion and style, current events, entrepreneurs, dating, relationships, marriages, and many more. The podcast has grown in success since its launch. Recently, the reality TV stars celebrated a milestone, as their podcast reached 5 million downloads in less than two years since its launch. It was indeed a remarkable achievement for the RHOP costars.

Buoyed by Reasonably Shady's success, RHOP's Gizelle and Robyn filed a trademark application for the name of their podcast. If the application is successful, the duo intends to start selling merchandise like jackets, socks, sweatshirts, lip gloss, and water bottles. If Reasonably Shady's success is anything to go by, then Gizelle and Robyn will likely enjoy many gains from their merchandise sales. However, the television personalities have a problem in the form of rapper Eminem. Page Six obtained legal documents that showed Eminem had filed an opposition on February 14 against Gizelle and Robyn's trademark application for Reasonably Shady.

Why Eminem Opposes Robyn And Gizelle's Podcast's Name's Trademark

In the legal documents, the rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, said he believes his brand will suffer damages if Gizelle and Robyn get their wish. Eminem further explained that Reasonably Shady would confuse consumers, who have known him by his nicknames, Slim Shady and Shady, since the late 1990s. One must note that Eminem has used the names Slim Shady and Shady exclusively for entertainment services since 1998. In addition, he owns the trademark for Shady to be used on merchandise. However, Gizelle and Robyn have yet to respond immediately to Eminem following his opposition filing.

Eminem's decision to file an opposition against Gizelle and Robyn's podcast name getting trademarked is not surprising. The rapper's reasons for filing the opposition are also understandable, as he has been attached to the Shady moniker for many years. Hence, it could be misleading to his fans and all those who have known him through the Shady brand. However, Gizelle and Robyn's podcast differs from the rapper's moniker despite the "Shady" link. Given how much they want the trademark, one must wonder how Gizelle and Robyn feel about the recent development.

For now, no one knows what will happen next, since the matter is now in court. However, there are likely to be two options. It's either the court rules that Reasonably Shady will cause confusion to Eminem's already existent Shady and Slim Shady monikers and disapproves Gizelle and Robyn's request for a trademark. On the other hand, the court may rule that a Reasonably Shady trademark won't affect Eminem's brand and approve Gizelle and Robyn's request for a trademark. Whatever happens, The Real Housewives Of Potomac stars Gizelle and Robyn's podcast's success is unquestionable, and they will surely enjoy more success in the coming years.
