Friends of The Real Housewives of New York City alum Tinsley Mortimer are not buying her ex-fiancé Scott Kluth's breakup story. Last week, news broke that the infamous on and off couple called off their engagement after a year and a half together. The two first met back in February 2017 on a blind date that was set up by Tinsley's former RHONY castmate, Carole Radziwill. She and Scott hit it off immediately, even sharing a passionate kiss in the middle of the date. Tinsley has reported back to the ladies that she and Scott's date lasted for several days.

After the couple got engaged in November 2019, friends and fans of Tinsley thought she found her fairytale ending with Scott. She left season 12 of RHONY halfway through after promises of marriage if she moved to Chicago for him. Shortly after she left the show, Scott proposed to her in front of the Chicago Water Tower. Tinsley really believed she finally found the one when Scott got down on one knee that night in November.

According to Page Six, friends of the socialite do not believe Scott had been trying to break up with her months before the announcement. People in Tinsley's circle wondered if he did, in fact, consider their relationship to be over months ago, why did his business, Coupon Cabin, publish a Valentine’s Day blog post that was authored by Tinsley herself? In the blog post for the Coupon Cabin, Tinsley spoke about the cute, romantic things they say to each other such as Scott teasing her about how many straw hats she's going to bring home when they go on vacation. The blog post did not indicate any trouble in paradise from the couple.

Since Tinsley left New York City, Scott has encouraged her to do "Chicago-based things and Coupon Cabin as if they were together." If Scott had been trying to break off the engagement for months, why did he allow Tinsley to write a blog for his company on Valentine's Day? Her friends were angered by his explanation of the breakup since his timeline does not seem to make any sense. A Page Six insider close to Scott says that Tinsley has a contract to write a post for the blog, and she chooses what to write about, not him. Scott went to the press to announce the couple had decided to go their separate ways and had been living separately for months.

Tinsley and her camp are confused as to why Scott is telling this narrative that the pair had been separated for months when her most recent blog post was published in February. While it's possible they were taking a break like they have so many times before, in their four-year relationship, Tinsley never believed it was permanent. For Scott to leave her in the dust when she left her whole life for him is inconsiderate of Tinsley and what she gave up for him.
