The Real Housewives of New York City alum Bethenny Frankel opened up about not wanting a prenup when she married her now ex-husband Jason Hoppy. Fans of the Bravo series saw the love story between Bethenny and Jason unfold in front of their eyes. The pair began dating in the summer of 2009, a few months before Bethenny started filming season 3 of RHONY. The couple quickly fell in love and were married less than a year later, in 2010.

Shortly after they were married, Bethenny and Jason welcomed their first child together, Bryn. After leaving RHONY, Bethenny and Jason starred in their own show on Bravo that focused on their wedding and their relationship after the wedding. Fans saw their marriage fall apart in front of their eyes, with Bethenny filing for divorce two years after they tied the knot. Since then, the two had been in a contentious divorce battle that finally ended at the beginning of the year.

Bethenny said in a new episode of her podcast, Just B, she was initially "embarrassed" by the word prenup when she and Jason were getting ready to tie the knot. "I’m trusting, and I just don’t want to deal with this, and it was embarrassing," the reality star said during Tuesday's new episode. Bethenny added that the word prenup was "uncomfortable" and "awkward". What also baffled her was the concept of crafting a business-like contract to get married. "If I had known that getting into marriage is the same as getting into business together with a business partner, my eyes would have been more open," Bethenny, who called out Bravo tell-all book, confessed. The 51-year-old then urged her listeners to not get into something like marriage unless they are 100 percent sure about the person.

Bethenny and Jason got married in March 2010, but she filed for divorce just two years later. Since then, the pair had been in an ongoing divorce battle regarding custody and money since filing to end their marriage. For years, Bethenny had wanted to open about her struggles with divorce but prevented herself from saying anything as she didn't have a finish point yet and wanted to protect her daughter. However, no that the divorce is finalized and her daughter is older, Bethenny, who is engaged to Paul Bernon, feels ready to talk openly about her divorce in hopes of helping other women who might be struggling as she did. "There’s nothing that I’m more of an expert on in the world than divorce," she added. With everything that went on in her divorce from Jason, Bethenny only hopes it didn't traumatize her daughter Bryn.

Overall, Bethenny wishes she got a prenup when she and Jason were planning their wedding so she could have avoided her 10-year divorce battle. The Real Housewives of New York City alum is now using her experience to warn other women to not get into a marriage unless it's absolutely right.
