Melissa and Joe Gorga of The Real Housewives of New Jersey have shown viewers what it means to have a strong relationship. Their marriage is the foundation of their segment of the show, and fans wonder how they all got started.
The dynamic duo has been tied at the hip since they began starring on the show back in 2011. Their Bonnie and Clyde dynamic won over fans who could really see the love between the two. Currently, it looks like they may be going through an unplanned rough patch on the new season. Melissa has spoken openly about the couple’s issues and even contemplated divorce. Melissa and Joe Gorga met the old-fashioned way in late 2002 when Melissa was 21; she went on a spring break to Cancun, Mexico, with her friends. Joe also went to Cancun on a trip with his friends, and the star-crossed lovers finally met up since they were staying at the same hotel! On their first season, Melissa told cameras about their encounter saying, Joe can still remember the color bikini she was wearing. The contractor didn’t talk about his future wife, and the two groups went along their separate ways.
It wasn’t until the two bumped into each other a second time that he would make his move. As fate would have it, their romance blossomed at the Jersey Shore at a popular beach bar. Joe has mentioned on the show that he and his friends were down the shore, and he spotted Melissa, who immediately stole his heart. He even told his friends she was the girl he was going to marry. The couple married less than a year after meeting that second time on August 20, 2004, and are still going strong.
When the couple married, Melissa conformed to his strict Italian beliefs and quit her teaching job to become a full-time housewife and mother to their three children. But during the last few seasons, she has come out of her shell and started her own fashion boutique, which left her husband in shock. Even though he wanted dinner on the table every night, he is warming up to having a boss lady for a wife. Fans are hoping that they can work out their differences and keep their fairytale romance alive.
