It seems the Kenya Moore is already ready for a change. While The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member is only just returning to the show after a one season hiatus, she's already had enough time with one cast member in particular, friend of the show Marlo Hampton, and is demanding some new faces.
Marlo has been on the show since its' fourth season in 2011, maintaining her cast status as an official "friend of" the housewives throughout most of that time. While a friend role sees a reduction in screen time in comparison to official housewives, Marlo has certainly been a staple in many of the shows' central storylines. Apparently, Kenya thinks she no longer serves of any importance to the franchise and would like to see her role replaced with new women.
While Marlo remains on the cast for the upcoming season, and is still close with OG cast member Nene Leakes, Kenya hopes it's her last. While speaking to Us Weekly ahead of her highly anticipated season twelve return, Kenya vented, "I’m just kind of bored with it. Yeah. I think we need something new." She elaborated further, saying, "I think we need Housewives or friends of the show that brings something new and we’ve seen her for eight or nine seasons. I’m kind of just over it." It's not currently known if the two ladies had feuded during filming of the upcoming season, but based upon her comments, it's safe to say that's probably the case. Kenya was also asked about a potential Phaedra Parks return, who left the show after season nine, and responded "I don’t think of her at all."
Kenya was a cast member for seasons five through ten before departing the show for one season and having her first child, her daughter Brooklyn. She had married Brooklyn's father, Marc Daly, during the shows tenth season and it has recently been revealed that the couple has split. The split was captured and will be featured during the shows' approaching season. Kenya had revealed at that time, "It is with profound sadness that I regret to inform my fans that I am divorcing my husband, Marc Daly. Due to recent and ongoing circumstances, I can no longer continue in the marriage. My sole concern and focus is and will always be my daughter, Brooklyn, my miracle baby. She was made in love and true commitment."
While it's tradition for existing cast members to be let go and new cast members to be brought in each season, only time will tell if Marlo makes the cut after this year. She seems to serve her purpose well as a secondary character, and Bravo is more often concerned with the shows actual housewives in terms of who's performing well and who isn't. And noting that Marlo has been around since the shows fourth season, there's a good chance she'll return again for several more to come.
