The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ Joe Giudice "learned a valuable lesson" after his deportation. The reality star revealed quite a bit when the couple spoke openly about their troubles for the first time since his release.

The day finally came for the Italian native to fly back home after months of waiting. In 2013, both Joe and Teresa were indicted for filing a false bankruptcy report, trying to hide their wealth. Joe had other charges brought against him as well, also being indicted for failing to file tax returns between 2004 and 2008. Teresa was sentenced to 15 months behind bars and was the first to leave federal prison after only having served 11 months. Upon her release, Joe was to report directly to the federal prison to start serving his three-year sentence.

Both Joe and Teresa have announced to People that they would speak out on Sunday, October 27 with host Andy Cohen about how their family has been dealing with the many changes they faced. In the special Bravo interview, Andy Cohen asked the famous Italian couple what exactly had been happening with them for the last few months and how their family will prevail.

While his appeal is still underway, Joe began by saying that he had to keep looking forward, even though his fight to appeal his deportation order is still wavering. On October 11, the father of four spoke out in a video to Bravo’s The Daily Dish, saying he learned some valuable lessons from his mistake, one being that he can never look back. The 47-year-old admitted that he was not perfect, but refused to be stigmatized by the charges brought against him. The reality star said that he “learned a valuable lesson from all this and it is better that I’m out here than in there.” Joe ended his video by speaking to his family, saying that he would always love and be there for his daughters, and that they know that deep down.

The lovely message to his family came the same day that Teresa announced that she and her husband would sit down with the famous TV host. Many fans believed that the pair would be announcing their separation during the sit-down, in order to look like a united front. It would not come as a surprise if the couple did part ways mainly because Teresa has been seen out and about with other men and not wearing her wedding ring. Also, at the last reunion, she did say if Joe were to be deported, she would divorce him.
