The Real Housewives’ Gina Kirschenheiter opened up about the "weird" meeting between her new boyfriend and her estranged husband. Gina is now learning how to cope with these awkward run-ins.

The California housewife found love right after the one-year anniversary of her splitting with her high school sweetheart, Matt Kirshcenheiter. Gina and Matt were together for over 11 years and share custody of their three children, Nicholas, Luca, and Sienna. Viewers learned that the couple’s split was due to Matt having cheated on Gina while he was away on business in Los Angeles. The two even had an argument in June where Matt allegedly choked and hit the housewife, forcing Gina to run to the neighbors for help.

According to Gina, the father of her children and new beau have been getting along famously. During the Real Housewives of Orange County panel at BravoCon, the mother of three opened up about her husband, saying as of now he was choosing to get along with her new boyfriend, Travis Mullen. People reported that, during the interview, Gina told host, Amy Phillips, that it was very uncomfortable for her to see both men speaking and joking with each other, saying, “It was really weird for me. … But he said, ‘Don’t worry, he’s a really nice guy."

Gina eluded that Matt was not in a very good place as of now and was not happy to hear of her new relationship. She said her ex-husband made it extremely difficult for her, and she felt like she may have had to break up with her new boyfriend. Luckily for the Long Island native, her ex-husband decided he had to meet Mullen because he would be around their three children on a day-to-day basis. Gina went on to tell the panel that her ex-husband could be stubborn, but, in the end, he made the right decision and put his children first.

As for Gina, she said that she is in her first loving and healthy relationship in a very long time. As per Gina’s personality, she still defended her husband when fans booed, saying that they should try not to judge him so harshly as he is doing the best he can. Fans have not forgotten that in August the two appeared in court to discuss a custody agreement, with the reality star winning primary physical custody and about $10,000 a month in child support. The couple had also agreed to take part in counseling that would help them co-parent better with one another and to not speak badly in front of the children. Fans are hopeful that Gina’s hard year is looking up and the New Year will only bring positive new adventures.
