Dorinda Medley from The Real Housewives of New York revealed she had a bible bump, also known as a Ganglion cyst. Fans were happy to see that her surgery went well and she was recovering comfortably.
Dorinda has had one heck of a season and most would agree it was not all the best. She had a terrible flood in her Berkshires estate. Blue Stone Manor needed a total overhaul and a lot of her late husband’s stuff had to be thrown away. At the same time, she was also in the process of gutting her New York City apartment. The reality star then broke up with her long-term boyfriend, John Mahdessian. Dorinda then had to fend off her friend’s interventions around her explosive anger. Needless to say, when the news broke that she had been axed by Bravo fans were heartbroken since they had always been rooting for her since day one.
Dorinda missed Luann de Lesseps’ cabaret opening of "Kill, Marry, F**k" due to a surgery she had scheduled for weeks. The next fans saw of her was wearing a sling and a little loopy. But the New Yorker managed to make it to Sonja Morgan’s soiree, Drag Queen Bingo.
The reason behind Dorinda missing the singing show, which let’s be honest, probably was the best excuse ever, was due to a bible bump she developed on her hand. Technically called a Ganglion cyst, it is a swelled cavity which is often surrounded by thick fibrous tissue and filled with fluid that resembles jelly. Sometimes the cyst may develop from a bulge of the joint capsule on the hand which looks exactly like what Dorinda showed to viewers. It is called a bible bump because back in the older days people would often take a heavy book and drop it on their hand to pop the cyst. Now, as fans saw on TV, doctors will surgically remove it or use a cortisone injection. After the surgery, Dorinda told cameras that her growth looked like an "octopus" since it had tentacles shooting out from every side.
Fans were happy to see her at Sonja’s party enjoying herself until the mention of Tinsley Mortimer. The name alone was enough to send Dorinda off the deep end and into a spiral of cursing that she could not come back from. Many are still worried about her drinking and hope that the time away from the show will find her healing.
