The former cast member of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Teddi Mellencamp opened up about Kathy Hilton as a new 'friend of' on the show. She called her "TV gold" and thinks he will be a great addition to the show. Teddi is very close to Kathy's sister, Kyle Richards, who will be returning to the Bravo series for her eleventh season. It seems Teddi got to know Kathy better since befriending Kyle on the show.
When Teddi joined RHOBH for season eight in 2018, she and Kyle immediately hit it off. The two became fast friends, attending events and even going on vacation with their families together. This became a source of contention between them and the rest of the women on the show, with fans comparing Teddi and Kyle's friendship to Kyle and Lisa Vanderpump's friendship. As the two became closer, their families grew close, creating a bond between Teddi and Kathy.
During a recent interview on the Us Weekly's Here for the Right Reasons podcast, the 39-year-old spoke about Kathy joining the upcoming season of RHOBH as a 'friend of.' "[Kathy] is hilarious. I can’t wait to see her," Teddi said of her friend's sister. "She is going to be TV gold. She’s so funny. She lights up the screen." Kathy has appeared on the show as a guest but was never featured in more than a few scenes in an episode. Kathy will be starring alongside her sister Kyle, Erika Jayne, Dorit Kemsley, Lisa Rinna, Garcelle Beauvais, newcomer Crystal Kung Minkoff, and Sutton Stracke who will be returning as a 'friend of'.
Teddi was also asked if she has spoken to her former costar, Erika, about her legal troubles and impending divorce from her estranged husband, Tom Girardi. “I would say I’ve spoken to everybody that’s on the cast," she replied, skirting around the question. Erika is currently ending her 21-year marriage to Tom, while also battling legal drama regarding a $2 million embezzlement case. While Teddi is happy to be spending more time with her family, she does miss being apart of RHOBH. "It’s definitely been interesting...Of course, there’s that original point of like, ‘Wow, did this really happen?" she said. But she felt it was for the best as she is going through a transitional time with her youngest daughter, Dove getting neurosurgery.
In the past when Kyle was asked about Kathy joining the show, she always commented on her sense of humor. Kyle felt when Kathy made appearances on the show, the fans never got to see the funnier side of her sister. Now that she is apart of RHOBH, fans will see what Kyle and Teddi see in Kathy. Judging by Teddi's interview, Kathy will be the one to watch next season. She might capture the hearts of the audience and become full-time by season 12.
