As reported by Yahoo!, beautiful baby Dove was required to have neurosurgery, and her transparent mother was unafraid to show her concern to her fans. "Dealing with anxiety, especially when in the 'public eye,' isn't easy; and going into July it's at an all-time high," she shared before her daughter went under the knife. Post-op, she shared on her Instagram story that all was well and that they were out of the woods. She went on to thank her baby's amazing doctors, stating, "So much gratitude to her amazing surgeons Dr. Danielpour and Dr. Urata and all the loving nurses that will continue to help us care for her as she recovers."

The reasoning for an extensive operation came after a diagnosis of Lambdoid Craniosynostosis. A rare occurrence, the non-syndromic craniosynostosis is found when one of the infants lambdoid sutures fuses in the womb near the back of the head. With amazing pediatric doctors they were able to catch the fuse through a CT scan. It was recommended shortly after discovering the problem that Dove underwent neurosurgery. Part of her mother's worry steamed not only from the fact that they would be operating on her brand new child's brain but also that her baby would have to stay two days in the NICU after the surgery, as well as several extra days in the hospital for recovery. Mellencamp admitted that all the variables in the surgery and recovery process made her scared for her daughter, saying "there's just so many unknowns."

What a journey this momma has been on with her gorgeous little girl. No one likes seeing their kid in surgery. Thankfully, it all worked out according to plan, and little baby Dove will be back to learning about the world in no time. Hopefully the pair do not encounter any more unknowns, at least for a little while. Mellencamp is sure to need a breather after this stressful event.
