Since the beginning of advertising for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 12, Bravo teased an intense situation in Aspen involving Kathy Hilton and Lisa Rinna. All fans could gather from the trailer was that Kathy had something of a tantrum that the other ladies weren't expecting. Now that it's aired, viewers are convinced it's been blown out of proportion.
The Real Housewives franchise is known for explosive trailers for any given season to really hype up the drama and excitement. Every new season, fans use what information they've been given in the trailer, plus any social media hints from the cast, to try and piece together what the conflicts could potentially be about. This was especially true for RHOBH season 12, considering Kathy isn't even a full-time cast member and she has such a reputation among the wealthy.
The episodes showing Kathy's apparent 'blow-up" have now aired, and fans are naturally weighing in. Many were disappointed that most of what was teased and hinted at was never recorded, on video or through audio. Given the constant surveillance the women are under when they're filming any given season, some viewers felt this was suspicious in itself. But others believe, given her track record, that Lisa Rinna's recollection of the events is somewhat skewed.
Reddit user Murky_Onion3770 feels that Kathy Hilton's apparent tantrum seems real, but that Lisa Rinna may be embellishing for good television. This wouldn't be the first time she's done that either – in RHOBH season 6, Lisa's main point of conflict was her bringing up Munchausen's Syndrome in relation to former housewife Yolanda Hadid's Lyme Disease. There were many moments in which the situation could've resolved itself, but Lisa continued to bring it up. Fans think it might be possible Lisa is doing something similar again.
Another Reddit user, the_anon_female, is convinced that Lisa is just trying to expose Kathy for the fact she's “definitely not the nice and friendly woman she tries to portray herself as”. A few others are of this opinion too – that Lisa is just trying to get the other women to see that Kathy is different from what they all think she is.
While some believe Lisa is trying to keep her diamond and her place on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills by exaggerating and embellishing her encounter with Kathy Hilton, others believe she's only trying to show the rest of the cast Kathy's true colors. At this point, nothing is fully clear, and fans will continue to speculate until more is revealed. But until then, the internet will most likely continue to develop theories and try to figure out what's going on.
