After Aspen on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kathy Hilton and Kyle Richards have been feuding online, with Kathy also claiming her efforts to defend Erika Jayne are unappreciated. Erika frequently notes that RHOBH season 11 centered on her ex-husband Tom Girardi’s legal issues, and she never caught a break. While the drama brought major ratings for the show, the endless media frenzy around the legal drama took a toll on Erika. With the spotlight on Kathy now, she’s determined to remind RHOBH that she stood by Erika last year.
Unlike her castmates, Kathy did take a neutral stance on Erika’s drama. Kathy came out swinging on the topic of Erika in producer Alex Baskin’s comment section on Instagram, where she responded to self-declared Real Housewives advocate ChristianGraySnow, who asked why Kyle, who's always arguing on RHOBH, was so upset. After going back and forth with Christian, arguing she was the one who was persecuted and set up for an end-of-season plot line that turned the conversation away from Erika. According to The_Bravo_Chicks, Glamgirl505 wrote, “come on Kathy! Your on BH housewives…You have no issue sitting there and participating when they attacked Erika each episode calling her out for something on [sic] one even knows she knew. You actually did what you're being accused of.”

Kathy then responded, “If you go back and watch you will see I’m the only one that said we are not lawyers and it’s none of our business. Get your facts straight.” To be fair to Kathy, who may not return to RHOBH, she did stay out of the fray when it came to Erika. Her ambivalence toward most of the RHOBH drama is what made fans like her. Rather it was Sutton Stracke, most notably, along with Kyle, Dorit Kemsley, and Crystal Kung Minkoff, who was far more invested in Erika’s legal struggles.
Kathy didn’t get involved in Erika’s outburst in Aspen, reinforcing that she's trying to steer clear of the legal drama. Kathy was far more focused on drinking tequila and doing the conga than getting wrapped up in Erika’s drama. While Erika might frame RHOBH season 12 as the time for Kathy’s hidden secrets to be scrutinized, Kathy may see this as unfairly vindictive when she took little interest in digging into Erika. However, whatever Kathy might have said about her RHOBH castmates, including Erika, may be motivating Erika to turn the focus toward Kathy.
Kathy and Erika started on good terms. However, Erika’s loyalty to Lisa has probably thrown a wrench in that relationship for good. Many are also speculating that Erika's publicist leaked details on Aspen-gate. At best, Kathy said the RHOBH should leave it to the lawyers to sort out Tom's legal drama, and at worst, she distanced herself from Erika by claiming she didn’t really know her ahead of joining RHOBH. Erika and Lisa have yet to reveal any scathing critiques Kathy may have made of Erika during Kathy's Aspen meltdown.
