This is why Erika became infuriated after Garcelle brought up the private conversation in front of the entire group in a later scene. After seasons of watching Erika live her lavish life of luxury, viewers are seeing her completely break down over her crumbling marriage and mounting legal woes with Tom. After being married to Tom for 20 years, Erika is finding it hard to convince others that she's innocent in relation to his fraud and embezzlement claims. She has been named in a number of his lawsuits and angry debtors are after the money that's allegedly owed to them. While Erika claims to have been in the dark about Tom's alleged illegal activity, spectators are watching the show and examining her every move as it relates to the case. Erika knew all that was coming her way during filming, and the pressure has gotten to her in the most recent episodes.
In the latest episode, viewers saw Erika verbally berate Garcelle after she asked her to talk about a phone conversation she had with Tom in front of the group. It was after Erika had already opened up to Garcelle and Crystal privately in a separate scene. Therefore, Erika didn't hold back after realizing that Garcelle was attempting to put her on the spot in front of the entire cast. Now, insiders are explaining Erika's emotions. They say she's feeling "betrayed" by show producers and not by Garcelle. "They cut it and paste it in a way to make it look like she was upset, but she was actually mad that Garcelle was told what to say three times and she took the bait,” a source told Page Six. adding, “They had three different conversations about the same subject.”
It turns out that producers were working behind the scenes to get either Crystal or Garcelle to ask Erika about Tom in front of the group. Crystal explained this on the show and said that Erika told her not to bring it up, adding that Garcelle missed that information. “What they didn’t show is that Erika and Crystal [Kung Minkoff] had a private conversation where no cameras were on, and producers heard it via their mics," the source explained. "When they got in the car, producers said they overheard it and asked Crystal to ask [Erika] on camera. Bravo didn’t want to do the fourth wall. They pulled a fast one,” they continued. According to sources, Garcelle and Erika actually never had the private conversation that aired on the show.
It was reportedly a voiceover used from her private conversation with Crystal. “That’s why footage of the women walking with their backs to the camera was shown with the voiceover from the hot mic," the insider claimed. Another source noted how "genuine" Erika's reaction to Garcelle was because she was being confronted with information that she actually never told her.
Lisa Rinna teased the behind-the-scenes drama after the episode aired, taking to her Instagram Story and revealing the shouting match Erika got into with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills producers. "I wish they had shown the screaming fight between the producer and Erika last night on the show in La Quinta," Lisa revealed, adding, "Now that would have been epic TV. Too bad. Bravo Bravo F–king Bravo.” Looks like the producers dodged a fourth wall situation this time around.
