The trouble started in Lake Tahoe, during a conversation with Kyle Richards about her lunch with Garcelle Beauvais, where they discussed racial bias. Sutton declared that she didn't see race. Shocked and disappointed in her white castmates, Crystal asked if Sutton was really "that girl" who doesn't see color. When Sutton couldn't let the topic drop the next day, fans felt that the tearful reality star was displaying a white victim complex. Crystal said, "I'm sorry," and "move on, I said I'm sorry."
Things got worse when Sutton attempted to return Crystal's coat to her bedroom and found Crystal naked. Crystal later told the other women, "Sutton came to my room, and I was naked. She like stood there and said some, like, weird comment to me." Sutton insists she was trying to make light of an awkward moment, while Crystal felt the tone was unfairly judgmental. Crystal also found it strange that Sutton continued to enter the room to hang the coat up, rather than shutting the door immediately. Sutton tried to apologize again. Kathy Hilton dubbed Sutton "Thomasina," which was a peeping Tom joke. Sutton was mortified. Crystal Agreed That Sutton's Intentions Weren't Bad

Sutton was emotional at the end of the dinner, seemingly triggered by Kathy breaking out her nickname upon arrival, and feeling guilty for forgetting a present for Garcelle's makeup birthday celebration. Kyle called her "emotional" and "irrational." Garcelle remarked that she seemed more "hormonal" than her teenagers. Sutton said, "I know I need to move on, and I will, but I cannot sit there and pretend to be hunky-dory." Kathy responded, "who is hunky-dory?"
Garcelle suggested that Sutton from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills make it clear what she needed before she could move on.
