Porsha Williams is finally explaining what led to her leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta after becoming a huge reality TV star on the show. Many fans were shocked when Porsha officially announced her exit from RHOA, a show that turned her into a household name. The news came after weeks of rumors about whether or not Porsha would return to the show. With her embarking on a controversial romance with the ex-husband of a former "friend" on the show, Porsha has been under fire from her co-stars and onlookers. But Porsha is on to new beginnings and says it was time to leave RHOA behind.

With a memoir and a solo spin-off on the horizon, Porsha has been embracing a lot of big changes in her life. She kicked the new beginnings off by announcing her engagement with Simon Guobadia just weeks after the season 13 reunion aired. With Simon appearing on season 13 as the husband of "Porsha's friend" Falynn Guobadia, many people felt like Porsha betrayed Falynn by hooking up with Simon so soon after he finalized his divorce. In the months that followed her new romance announcement, Porsha left her hosting position at Dish Nation before announcing her exit from RHOA. Now, she's set to open up like never before.

When it comes to the reasons why Porsha decided to leave RHOA, it's because she was ready for early retirement. "I knew that I wanted to semi-retire at 40," Porsha told Variety. "After I had my daughter, I just knew she was my world. That's it. I just want as much time with her as possible." Porsha also says that RHOA was taking a toll on her and proved to be a drain on her mental health. "I knew that I needed to be as healthy mentally as I could be," she said, "No drama, etc. Just in a happy peaceful place for my baby girl." There was a lot of drama coming her way if she would've returned. The entire cast would have something to say about Porsha's relationship with Simon.

Porsha Williams, RHOA, Porsha's Family Matters

From the looks of the trailer for her new family spin-off, Porsha gets grilled by her loved ones. It makes sense why she decided not to get grilled twice. Dealing with questions from her family was enough. While she says "never say never" to returning to reality TV, Porsha has put her RHOA career in the past for now as she focuses on her family and future and as a businesswoman. "I'm actually proud of myself that I was able to grow in a positive way," Porsha explained. "I didn't stay stagnant. I grew as an entrepreneur. I grew as a woman of substance. I truly found my voice, right on television. I found my way." Indeed, that she did. From her first appearance on RHOA season 5 to Porsha's exit after season 13, Porsha became a whole new woman.

She went from being a shy timid divorcee to a bold, in-your-face woman who's seeking love. After welcoming her daughter, Porsha started to own her peace and didn't entertain people who served her no good. Not only did she kick her ex-fiancé Dennis McKinley to the curb, but she also decided to stop pretending to get along with Kenya Moore and others. Porsha was set to be the lead housewife if she would've returned to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, so the other cast members should thank her for allowing some of them a chance to return or finally get a full-time role.
