NeNe Leakes is leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Fans were stunned at the announcement posted on NeNe's YouTube on Thursday.
Fans were aware NeNe had been lashing out at the Bravo network. Many feel there was been a misstep when it came to negotiating the reality star’s salary, and NeNe chose to fight back. Most recently, she announced she was given her own show on the E! network. There has been speculation for months that the actress would be saying goodbye to her peach, but now the news has been confirmed. Reality TV viewers were wondering why NeNe had yet to sign The Real Housewives of Atlanta contract, since the mother of two has always been at the forefront of most of the drama that has conspired within the show and will be greatly missed.
The Real Housewives franchise was dealt another major blow with the loss of NeNe, who was the OG of Atlanta. NeNe has been a main cast member since the show's conception back in 2008. On September 17, NeNe took to her YouTube channel to announce the devasting news that she would not be returning to the franchise. Check out the video below:
The reality star made the announcement about not returning to the 13th season with a smile on her face. She thanked her fans, saying, "Thank you to all of you guys that have been showing me a lot of love and support as of late. I feel you, I hear you. I have been on an extremely, extremely long, exhausting, tiring, emotional negotiation.” The statement seemed to solidify the theory that the star and network could not come to an understanding. The Atlanta native went on to say that "It wasn't an easy decision for me." She revealed to fans that the process was hard since the show had done so well and she never expected for it to still be going strong after 14 years. NeNe ended her video by saying she was “just so happy that I can say that I was a part of a genre that opened up doors for Black ensemble reality shows to step up and be a part of what we all now love so much, reality TV."
Fans have already had to say goodbye to many other housewives as of late, including Bethenny Frankel, Dorinda Medley, and Denise Richards. Fans are wondering who will actually be left if Bravo doesn’t get their act together.
