NeNe Leakes has announced her departure from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Fans of the show were left shocked after she revealed the news Thursday on her YouTube.

Leakes became a fan favorite after starring on the show since season 1. Over the years fans have watched her transparency with marital woes, her husband's cancer scare, and her vicious spats with the other housewives. The mother of two was often at the center of the drama on the show, making her a standout among the cast. But after failing to come to a contract agreement with Bravo, Leakes revealed her exit on social media. It comes on the heels of her own show that is coming to the E! network.

Following a lot of "emotional negotiations," she decided to end her 14-year relationship with the network. "There's been a lot of emotions on both sides," she said in the YouTube video. "It's been hard and I have made a hard, difficult decision to not be part of Real Housewives of Atlanta season 13." Fans of the show are upset at the news as Leakes is typically involved with some of the most popular storylines each season. In addition to Leakes, cast member Eva Marcille had previously announced her exit from the show after four seasons. So, what does this mean for the upcoming season?

NeNe Leakes Cynthia Bailey The Real Housewives of Atlanta

Newcomers Drew Sidora and LaToya Ali are set to join the show. Returning housewives include Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, Porsha Williams, and Kenya Moore. Some storylines are expected as fans watched Bailey get engaged to her boyfriend Mike Hill last season. The two had a 2020 wedding date set that is expected to appear in the next season. Williams on the other hand ended the season at odds with her fiancé Dennis McKinley. Despite getting "re-engaged" last December, Williams and McKinley unfollowed each other on social media over the summer. The Dish Nation host recently told her fans that she has no wedding plans with her estranged fiance. In addition to her relationship issues, Williams and Moore's longstanding feud came to surface in a shade throwing session on Instagram last week. RHOA fans are expecting to see the two frenemies face off in season 13.

Since season 12 wrapped, Burruss welcomed her daughter Blaze Tucker via surrogate. The busy mom of three has also appeared in acting roles on screen and opened up a new restaurant with her husband Todd Tucker. But will there be any sign of Leakes in season 13? Considering how much of a staple she is on the show, it'll be hard for the other housewives not to talk about her while filming. During her announcement, Leakes ended the heartfelt video by telling her fans, "Love you guys, I'm going to miss you!"
