The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore has officially filed for divorce from Marc Daly after toying with their separation for years. Kenya filed to dissolve their marriage after four years together and filed for sole custody of their daughter, Brooklyn Daly. In her filing, Kenya confessed to the separate lives she and Marc have been living since their initial separation two years ago. With Kenya finally filing to end her marriage from Marc after sharing conflicting feelings about the decision on the show, she appears to be hinting at a new attitude ahead of season 14.

It was Marc who first filed to end their marriage in September 2019. The divorce filing came only one year after the couple welcomed their daughter and just two years after their secret 2017 wedding. Kenya remained transparent on the show about her crumbling marriage but continued to express hope that she and Marc would work out their differences. During season 13, Kenya was an emotional wreck over her failed marriage. But by season's end, she still had not made moves to get a divorce. At the reunion, Kenya boasted about being a married woman and continued to tease the possibility of getting back together with Marc.

It looks like their co-parenting moments weren't enough to keep Kenya and Marc together. According to court documents obtained by Radar Online, Kenya filed for divorce from Marc in May 2021. In the filing, the Kenya Moore Hair Care owner listed June 10, 2017, as their marriage date and September 19. 2019 as their date of separation. The September date was when Marc first filed for divorce from Kenya. In Kenya's petition, she says since their 2019 split they have lived in a “bonafide state of separation since that date.” The restaurant owner has always lived in Brooklyn while Kenya and their daughter remain in Atlanta.

Fans and the cast often questioned the long-distance nature of Kenya's marriage, but she would defend it to the end. Now with the end near, Kenya's filing says the marriage is “irretrievably broken” with no hopes of reconciliation. Back in June, Kenya sent her followers into a frenzy when she posted a family vacation photo with Marc and Brooklyn. Their happy faces made many think there were signs of reconciliation. But in Kenya's filing, it says that “the parties have acquired other joint personal property as a result of their marriage by way of gifts or joint purchases which must be equitably divided as well as martial debt which must be equitably divided.” The filing also hints at issues regarding their daughter.

While requesting sole custody of Brooklyn, the petition claims that issues "impacting the care, safety and well-being" of their daughter "could become irreparable.” After her filing, Marc responded with his own suit requesting joint custody of Brooklyn and allowing Kenya to maintain sole custody. Marc is also asking the court to award him his “separate real and personal property.” He's also asking for an equitable split of their property and wants Kenya to pay his legal fees. While Kenya's lawyers made moves to keep the filings private, they somehow leaked to the press. It looks like season 14 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta will follow Kenya finally facing the reality of her divorce.
