Kenya Moore and Marc Daly's divorce includes a battle over their daughter, Brooklyn Daly, and her appearances on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Word recently got out on Kenya's May divorce filing. The petition came after two years of Kenya struggling to come to terms with the reality of her failed marriage. Since filing the paperwork, Marc has responded with his own petition seeking joint custody and an attempt at controlling their daughter's future on the show.
Despite the delay since Marc's initial divorce filing in 2019, Kenya's petition revealed the separate lives she and Marc have been living. The Brooklyn-based restaurant owner resides in NYC, while Kenya and their daughter live in Atlanta. Between their long-distance marriage, their extreme personality differences, and Marc's outspoken demands on Kenya's onscreen behavior, the housewives and viewers knew it was only a matter of time before Kenya and Marc parted ways. But Kenya remained patient with Marc, despite his visible disregard toward her. During the season 13 reunion, Kenya still boasted about being a married woman, even after the cameras followed her emotional journey when Marc filed for divorce.
As the details on Kenya and Marc's divorce proceedings continue to leak, Radar Online obtained court documents revealing the recent victory Kenya gained when it comes to their daughter. In June, a Georgia judge ruled that Kenya can continue filming with Brooklyn, despite Marc's attempts to block it. The decision was reached after the judge reportedly reviewed “disputed instances of domestic violence … based on” Kenya's testimony. The judge was “not convinced, and no evidence has been shown, that” Kenya put Brooklyn in “any environment that might not be in the minor child’s best interest, or may in any way be considered dangerous or inappropriate.” The response is a hint at how messy things have gotten during Kenya and Marc's divorce proceedings.
The courts have since ordered the divorcing couple to work on “lessening disparaging communication” between them and said Kenya could aim to "bridge those gaps.” Following claims Marc made against Kenya's parenting, the judge noted how Brooklyn's appearances on RHOA help her mother bring home a hefty income. “The evidence has further shown that if Petitioner is not able to involve the minor child, that it could negatively impact her ability to make money, or even be employed," the documents said. While Kenya gets the final say on whether or not Brooklyn will appear on the show, she is required to inform Marc anytime Brooklyn films and their toddler is only allowed to appear in "age-appropriate" scenes.
As part of the proceedings, Marc and Kenya are battling over the Georgia home they lived in together. The home was purchased by Kenya prior to their 2017 wedding, and Kenya is fighting to keep the property in her possession. With all the divorce drama Kenya is going through behind the scenes, she will have a lot to fill viewers in on when she returns to The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Sorry Marc, but Brooklyn will be there to support her mother onscreen.
