Supporters of Real Housewives star Andy Cohen were surprised to learn that he almost lost his job as the host of CNN's New Year's Eve Live following a drunken outburst. His co-host Anderson Cooper and viewers were left stunned when Andy ranted about the former mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio. Andy welcomed in the New Year not knowing if he would wake up with a job.

The Bravo executive has been a staple on CNN's New Year's Eve Live ever since comedian Kathy Griffen was fired from the show in 2017. The network chose to fire Kathy after her Donald Trump photo scandal. Choosing Andy as the replacement made sense, especially since most fans know how close Anderson and Andy are. The two have been friends for over 25 years, and when they're together on screen, fans can't help but be mesmerized by their interaction.

It is safe to assume that Andy is thanking his lucky stars that he will be invited back by CNN for the next edition of New Year's Eve Live. The father of one never intended to become a viral sensation in 2022, but due to being "over-served," Andy let slip certain choice words. For a few moments, fans of Andy were extremely worried that his snarky words surrounding politics would cost him his seasonal hosting gig. As a representative of CNN, Andy and all other anchors are expected to remain impartial and hold back on their opinions as they are only meant to deliver the news. On New Year's Eve, Andy lost control of his thoughts for a moment and put his career on the line.

Andy also took shots at ABC's New Year's Rockin' Eve, claiming that they were "losers." Andy's severe lack of judgment could have cost him a lot more. Andy did speak out, saying he felt bad for insulting Ryan Seacrest, but he has yet to apologize for his stance on de Blasio. Spectators who watched the live count down will remember Andy said, "The only thing that Democrats and Republicans can agree on is what a horrible mayor he has been."

Even though Andy may be welcomed back next year, he will probably be given a few more guidelines, including an alcohol limit. Bravo and Real Housewives fans were static to hear that CNN would not be firing him since both Andy and Anderson really do bring a special show to the air every year. Quite possibly, Andy could even be thinking of making a New Year's resolution, including knowing when to bite his tongue.
