Despite their close friendship, Melissa Gorga can't defend the behavior of her The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip co-star Ramona Singer. Melissa and Ramona became friends before appearing on the new Bravo series as they both starred in their respective Real Housewives shows. Melissa joined The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 3, whereas Ramona has been an OG cast member since The Real Housewives of New York City season 1. Melissa and Ramona live only a couple of hours away from each other, making it easy for them to keep in contact.
While the two women have been friends for a long time, Melissa, who revealed which cast member caused drama on RHUGT, has made it clear she doesn't agree with some of Ramona's behavior. Even though Melissa knows the New York native is not trying to be malicious, it can still be difficult to defend. However, that doesn't mean the New Jersey native completely turned her back on Ramona. Melissa just did her best to make sense of what Ramona was trying to say to the other women.
Ramona kicked of RHUGT by immediately saying something offensive to The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Kenya Moore. Ramona was seen discussing her dating life after divorce while flying on a private jet to Turks and Caicos, and Kenya, who said her divorce was liberating, called out the 64-year-old for flirting with another man while she was married to her then-husband Mario Singer. "I was getting f**king divorced, b**ch," Ramona screamed at the mother of one. A shocked Kenya replied, "Excuse me?" Kenya did not appreciate being called such a vulgar name by a complete stranger. When Melissa was asked about Ramona's behavior on RHUGT, such as her fight with Kenya, she simply could not defend her friend. "There are no excuses," the 42-year-old admitted to Page Six. "Ramona lives in Ramona's world," Melissa added. Besides her behavior on RHUGT, Ramona has been the subject of scrutiny for her actions on RHONY as well.
Ramona was called out for the way she often dismissed new RHONY cast member Eboni K. Williams whenever she would bring up the topic of race and social injustice in America. The mother of one even made a mockery of a pregnant woman during the Black Shabbot episode this past season when Ramona tried to diminish her experience of being racially profiled while giving birth for the first time. While Melissa cannot defend actions such as this one, she can't completely turn her back on Ramona. "I hold Ramona close to my heart [...] I know that she can say things sometimes that piss people off and get people upset. But I always try to explain where she's coming from," Melissa said. The mother of three knows that Ramona, who may have an issue with race, can sometimes "twist her words" and say things he doesn't really mean. Melissa believes Ramona trusts her to explain why what she said is wrong without completely tearing her down.
Even though Melissa and Ramona had a close friendship before the RHUGT, Melissa isn't afraid to tell Ramona when she is doing or saying something offensive. Ramona needs Melissa in her corner, especially now that she is the subject of RHONY firing rumors. Maybe Melissa can give her some pointers on how to be more respectful when speaking to others.
