Real Housewives’ Emily Simpson Calls Out Husband for Mocking Her Weight

Emily Simpson on Andy Cohen

Star of The Real Housewives of Orange County Emily Simpson calls out her husband for mocking her weight. A nice dinner between the couple turned tense as the topic of conversation shifted over to Emily's recent weight gain.

The reality star has been open about her weight gain on the show, sharing with Tamra Judge that this is the heaviest she has been. Simpson was recently in the tabloids regarding her marriage to her husband Shane Simpson. Viewers were concerned while watching the current season as she had practiced a sexy Las Vegas dance for their anniversary, but he refused to fly to Sin City to watch because he was studying for the California Bar Exam. As a result, she ended up performing the sensual dance for her girlfriends who flew out to support her. The pair have been married for 10 years now, but that doesn't mean that they have everything figured out. It seems like now, more than ever, the couple's problems are begining to shine through on the show.

In the most recent episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County (via People) Simpson and her husband Shane tried to have a date night which turned into an uncomfortable conversation that centered around Emily’s weight. The discussion of weight on the current episode was thanks to Shane’s sarcastic wisecracks that turned personal. He tempted her with a bread bowl at the restaunt after she's trying to refrain from eatin carbs, he said, "Here's the bread bowl." He joked, "We'll tempt her all night long." He continued to push the issue, wafting the smell of bread in her direction, saying, "You’ve earned a piece of bread, you’ve earned it." He laughed, "How ’bout we share a piece?" Emily stood strong, saying to her husband, "I’m not eating any bread. I’m not eating any bread, so stop trying to get me to eat bread."

Emily remained stoic and told the cameras that she did not appreciate how everything with her husband is taken as a joke, saying, "Everything with Shane is a joke, but this is a serious issue." She revealed her intentions for losing weight, saying, "I’ve gained a lot of weight. I’ve literally put on 20 lbs. in, like, an eight-month period. I want to be healthy for my kids. I want to play with them and take them to the park and not feel like crap. I just need, not jokes. I need support." In the episode, Emily revealed to the viewers that her 10-year-long marriage to Shane has plenty of "fundamental issues," that will require a lot of active work on both ends to fix. The pair also spoke about fighting less in front of their children - 6-year-old daughter Annabelle, and 4-year-old twin sons Luke and Keller - and spend more quality time together.

Viewers have had to watch Shane be cruel to Emily for some time now, and it was evident that the couple has issues that both parties need to work on for their marriage to be successful. Fans are hopeful that the two will be able to spend more time together as a family as the TV personality works on getting healthier for her family and for herself.
