Reacher season 2 star Jack Ritchson shares a funny BTS video celebrating the start of filming. Lee Child’s literary creation Jack Reacher first made it to screens in a pair of movies starring the arguably miscast Tom Cruise. Then in 2022, Child’s iconic book character made the jump to the small screen with Ritchson replacing Cruise as Reacher.

Critics and fans who devoured Reacher season 1 on Prime Video were largely in agreement that the physically massive Ritchson did a better job bringing the novels' take on the main character to life than did Cruise. But Ritchson proved that he’s more than just a physical specimen, bringing wit and charm to the role of a former soldier investigating a mystery in a small Southern town. Now Ritchson is set to return as the ultimate combination of brains and brawn in Reacher season 2 on Prime Video.

Filming on Reacher season 2 has in fact already begun, and to celebrate the happy occasion, star Ritchson himself posted a quick BTS video on Instagram. In a hilarious twist on the usual slate image used to commemorate the start of filming, Ritchson demonstrates how much bigger Reacher season 2 is set to be by bringing out a series of larger-and-larger slates – which of course he can handle because he is himself quite large. What To Expect In Reacher Season 2

Reacher was of course confirmed to get a second season not long after the debut of season 1 on Prime Video. As for the second season’s story, it’s already been revealed that the show will tackle Bad Luck and Trouble, the 11th novel in the Jack Reacher series (after season 1 adapted Killing Floor, the very first of Child’s books). Set mostly in California and Las Vegas, Bad Luck and Trouble sees Reacher and his old friend Frances Neagley looking into the death of one of their former MP Special Investigations Unit partners and uncovering a whole lot of crime. This obviously means the return of Maria Sten, who played Neagley in Reacher season 1.

While it’s certainly great news to see Sten's Neagley returning, the expectation is that she won’t be joined by fan-favorite Reacher season 1 characters Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin) and Roscoe (Willa Fitzgerald). That’s unless Reacher producers decide to deviate from Bad Luck and Trouble, which does not include those characters, enough to work them in. But Reacher season 2 will definitely include some interesting new characters, including Reacher’s old Army friend David O'Donnell, played by Shaun Sipos. Serinda Swan, Ferdinand Kingsley and Rory Cochrane have also joined the cast.

Regardless of what new characters jump aboard for Reacher season 2, it’s a fair bet the show won’t stray far from the formula that worked so well in season 1. So fans can expect a compelling mystery, some interesting twists and a whole lot of Reacher beating people to a pulp. Prime Video has yet to reveal a release date for Reacher season 2, but it should be along some time in 2023.
