In perhaps a festive homage to the most wonderful time of the year, one Red Dead Redemption 2 player succeeded in taking Dutch and Arthur on an extreme bobsled ride thanks to creative use of a canoe and the full force of gravity. Red Dead Redemption 2 may be over three years old now, but fans are still finding plenty of ways to entertain themselves in the game’s vast open world.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is often lauded as one of the greatest games currently on the market. Its mix of engaging characters are brought to life against the spectacular backdrop of a fictional late-19th century U.S. Wild West, making the game one of the most immersive gameplay experiences out there. In Red Dead Redemption 2, players take control of Van der Linde gang member Arthur Morgan, who is making his way through a harsh and unflinching America. As players traverse this vast world, they are able to connect with other gang members such as Dutch, Uncle, and Red Dead Redemption’s protagonist John Marston. Now, one player has decided to embrace Arthur’s time with Dutch in Red Dead Redemption 2 in a rather unusual - but amusing - way.

Twitter user TRUESWOLDIER shared their own version of a Wild West Winter Olympics by taking Arthur and Dutch on an extreme bobsled ride down the side of one of Red Dead Redemption 2’s snowy mountains. However, in a rather unconventional twist, TRUESWOLDIER used a canoe as the chosen mode of transport. This offers an incredibly entertaining sight, however events soon take an even more farcical turn as Arthur begins paddling furiously through the air before gravity takes hold and launches the duo forth in a burst of speed. Dutch is then rather unceremoniously thrown from the canoe, while Arthur manages to maintain some form of controlled paddle. However, before long, the entire canoe is upended, and Arthur lands on the snowy mountain’s edge, as well. That said, Arthur is saved by a glitchy landing that allows him to end upright without an issue.

Videos such as that of TRUESWOLDIER’s are a real testament to Red Dead Redemption 2’s enduring quality. While this stunt is certainly silly, it is hilarious and a great example of the freedom that Red Dead Redemption 2 offers its players. Outside of the main campaign, there are endless opportunities for fans to explore and carve their own unique way through America's Wild West.

Along with sharing videos such as this one, many players have also turned to mods to enhance their experience of Red Dead Redemption 2. Some of these mods heighten fans’ overall gameplay experience, however some offer a much more tranquil (and legal) way for Arthur to pass the time. This has included one mod that allows Arthur to flex his muscles working at a coal mine, or even become a bartender. However, in the absence of mods, playful exploits such as TRUESOLDIER’s bobsled ride are certainly an equally engaging way to enjoy Red Dead Redemption 2.
